Title: Spam

Julian - April 10, 2008 07:46 PM (GMT)
Hi there,
As i'm sure the majority of members are aware, spam has been an increasing problem lately. The forum will be upgraded to new software (ZetaBoards) in the reasonably near future, but in the meantime, I have taken measures within the board which will hopefully reduce, if not stop, spam.

What i've done is enable new member validation : whenever a new member joins the board, they will have to click a link on an email which is sent to them to validate their account, before they can log in.

Kind regards

Julian W

All new accounts have to be accepted by me (or possibly other moderators/admins) due to large amounts of spam being received (even after I implied the user validation system yesterday)

Good thing too! I've noticed a lot of spam on here recently...

Yep, it's definately been getting worse.

Now i've activated the account moderation, spam will hopefully be completely eliminated from the forum. This is slightly more time consuming for me, but I prefer to do that then waste endless time deleting spam messages.

With the new introduction of the ZetaBoard (in the future) spam will hopefully be completely eliminated- i'll believe that when I see it!
