Pierre Gehanne has posted the following on Angloinfo

QUOTE (gehanne @ AngloInfo)
By the way, saturday night, we have ordered one newbuilding plus an option for a second one. These ferries will be night ferries, i.e. with 160 cabins (excluding cabins' crew) with ensuite facilities.

This comfirms the weekend's rumour that LD were ordering new tonnage. Presumably, this will still be from Singapore as the rumour suggested.

Maybe we will see the Norman Spirit move to the Newhaven- Le Havre route? Would it fit in Newhaven?

Would NS fit into Newhaven? In a word, with difficulty. Darn it, that was two words!

I think she's too long, probably draws too much water (like Dieppe, and you know what often happened to her :o ) and won't be able to square up to the ramp.

Still, it's nothing that a new outer harbour wouldn't put right. Local press reports say that LD are 'waiting in the wings' when the current proposal for the sale of the port falls through.

Still, one of the newbuildings might be more the right size. Who knows? ;)

She had enough problems docking in Ostend & Ramsgates, never mind Newhaven or Dieppe.
