Title: Would you support...
Description: "BUY A PREMIERSHIP" promotion?

This is purely an idea of mine at the moment that the club has no involvement or knowledge off.
What if we, as a group of Magpie supporters, start up a promotion, collecting money to "BUY A PREMIERSHIP"
No I haven't gone mad  , but my idea is that if we could collect money over a period of time, we could build a kitty that is distributed to the players of the side that brings us the bacon (the NSW CUP!!!)
So basically creating another incentive for our boys to perform. The idea could even generate some extra media coverage for the club.
If our boys don't win this year, the money is carried over to the next year and built apon. So the longer we go without a Premiership, the larger the incentive for them to pull their finger out and win one.
When we finally win the comp (and we will!) the winnings could go towards their end of year celebrations.
I could set up a donations button on the website to accept Credit Card and PayPal payments, and we could collect cash and spare coins at the games?
I'd be willing to kick off the fund with a few hundred dollars to get it going and see if we can build on it. But MOST importantly, would YOU contribute your hard earnt money to this...
So I guess I'm asking... how much is a Magpies Premiership worth to you?
So what's your thoughts...
do I have a screw loose?
or is this a damn good idea?

lol, I was going to say we wouldn't miss Staks $2, but you beat me too it.
I think an idea like this could become a good fund raiser for the club.

So seriously, is it a stupid idea?
Thoughts, comments, modifications?
An argument against it would be that it is just a novelty fund raiser not real a long term solution.

The only negative I can see in your proposal and creative ideology of this concept is the lack of interest. Western Suburbs is one of the oldest Rugby League Clubs yet has one of the smallest membership bases, and from the annual report shows that membership is down once again.
Combine that with a relatively small following of support and interest at the Lower Grade/NSW Cup level and it is hard to fathom and imagine fans and members forking out extra dollars that could be going towards Football club membership, Football Club Events and Club merchandise.
I believe a great emphasis on Football Membership is needed for the long term and if it can be somehow associated with the club's Joint-Venture investment to help portray and express the continual preservation of the clubs brand.
The lack of coverage, exposure and profile of the Lower Grade competitions is what hurts clubs and is the solely reason why it is so difficult to obtain and maintain commercial opportunities and sponsors due to the perceived lack of exposure and return on investment. A greater affiliation and connection with the NRL representative team, using it as a vehicle and mechanism for exposure in my personal opinion is the way to go.
You get companies and businesses that can associate and identify a national sporting organisation and then identify the link and partnership through its shareholder, there is going to be more potential for investment. Whether the club, members and fans like it, Western Suburbs are a 50% shareholder, are a feeder club and are a pathway to the NRL.
That's not to say that the club ca not be independent and generate its own revenue. It has every right and reason to remain functional and operational without anyone holding it's hand. It has done so for 101 years. However in a time where finances are tight, support isn't what the club would like for it to be to to the nature of the sporting landscape, it's wise to look at all opportunities and it's greatest opportunity lies within its NRL investment for a much greater profile in the game and sporting marketplace.

What about the players themselves contributing.
A small monetry fine for penalities, send offs suspensions that go to the kitty?
After a while, silly penalties could be a thing of the past

Not a bad idea Phantom :correct:
In the end of the day I want to see 2 things happen...
1. Wests Magpies consistantly winning Premierships.
2. Wests Magpiesconsistantly turning local kids into NRL quality players.
The hard part is all the steps involved to see that that happen.
