Title: Magpie Money

Interested to know with Wests playing in essentially a 3rd tier comp in NSW behind NRL & Toyota Cup what sort of Coin they earn per game. Take out the NRL & toyota cup contracted players which may drop back from time to time for the Magpies, looking at mainly the semi professional and part timers.
I ask this due to the number of quality players that are running around in the vicinity of the Wests area and in Jim Beam Cup & Group 6 that could potentially play for the magpies but choose not to for whatever reason. Could either be no aspirations or nothing to prove or simply the coin ??
Also read that some NRL clubs believe that QLD cup is a stronger feeder comp than VB cup ??

From what I know and have heard from guys playing at wests its averaging at about 300 a win and 100 a loss, some guys are on more and some are on less. This is compared to the average of around 400 (guys who are at NSW cup level) get for playing for campbelltown eagles. Now take into acount thats the magpies train 4 or 5 days a week and have game on the weekend and ctown eagles train 2 nights a week and a game on the weekend. Also wests players train at a higher intensity. The only thing keeping them at nsw cup level is that they want to make first grade, so they take the pay cut.
I know that in some local A grade comps (players of NSW cup level) have been on as much as 1300 a game win or loose.
Its not fair but its the way it has been for some time and if you want the chance to play NRL then you take the pay cut.
Can anyone add to this.

I wonder if we all chipped in we could build an 'incentive' payment for the players if they can win the Premiership? The money could go to their end of year celebrations.
If they don't win this year we keep adding to it each year until there is a nice booty to provide an extra incentive?
See if we could actually 'buy' a premiership :D

That surprises me considering the intensity of which VB cup players have to train and play. I know of some players who are in group 6 & group 7 who are on $500 -$800 a game, and only train twice a week , no wonder they they have no incentive to play at a higher level if the coin is the driving force in their decision and training half as much.

Im sure there are guys playing for wests in VB who are on more then what i said was the average but they would have contracts with WT.
Galahs i think thats a great idea, if they dont win it for 5 or 6 years then by the time they win it it will be good end of season trip. PArty for a month.
