Hi all, I just applied for my first dig at Vindolanda starting 19 April. I'm going all on my own so if there's anyone else going along then please get in touch! I want to sort accommodation soon, I need to stay nearby as I don't have a car. Any tips would be good or if there's anyone wanting to share accommodation (if you need someone extra for a holiday cottage etc) please let me know - I promise I'm a very good cook!

You might want to check out the accommodation link on the Vindolanda site, Maple Lodge and Twice Brewed Hotel are fairly close and within walking distance I believe. Both of them and the Strand at Bardon Mill seem to be easy enough to get a booking at as well.

If your after shared accom then theres a couple to choose from too. I'd do it sooner rather than later as it seems the digging spots are going like hot cakes, and subsequently places to stay will follow suit.
