Title: The barracks
Description: Sept. 08 (these are the last, honestly!)

 The Barracks as on 10th Sept. at the end of the 2008 season, which ended on 4th September. This series of photos were taken moving around the barracks excavation area, starting from the west, looking east. (The next photos follow on to the right hand side of the previous one)

Looking east from the west gatehouse, the road is outside the fence on the right. These three large blocks and those along the road edge are the outer walls from 3rd century buildings.

Looking to the north, with the wall of west gatehouse in the foreground.

Moving along the road from the gatehouse, maybe a side road, then those large blocks on the right are the outer wall of the barracks.

One advantage of being a volunteer here is that you don’t have to decide what all this was, and when it was!

Michael, you should be awarded an Oscar for your sterling work keeping us all up to date on dig progress. Thanks! Just returning from London and the Hadrian Exhibition at the BM. Excellent, though somehow a bit disjointed on Hadrian's dates (I felt). Best wishes to all - David

Thank you, David. :)
I've really enjoyed snapping away and posting the results.
I hope that people don't mind seeing the same views over & over, but the site changes every week. I like to look back and see it all emerging, think the granaries look great, and the photos are a good record of all the “Oscars”, & friends we meet over the season.
Best wishes to them all,
Michael.
