And since the Hadrian's Wall hiking trail opened a few years ago the B&Bs, hostels, etc. have started filling up a lot faster too. (And supply/demand keeps pushing the rates up.) There's tons of Web sites to check out accommodation, but one that always seems to have one of the biggest and most current lists is
www.hadrians-wall.org. Just click on the "Accommodation" link on the left, click the type of accommodation, pick the part of the wall where you'll want to stay in "Select an Area" (probably Section 2, since that's Vindolanda's area), and you'll see a nice batch of options.
There's also quite a few camp sites and caravan parks in the area. I've not gone that route, but folks who are into it say that they're cheap, friendly, & safe as a rule.
