The forest was alive today. The birds were singing and the bushes were rustling with the mouth-watering noises of prey, scampering to and fro in the undergrowth. It was a perfect day to be out hunting, even for the laziest apprentice. The forest buzzed with the sounds of new-leaf, and all the animals were taking advantage of the amazing weather. A mouse pattered around in a clearing, happily picking up a seed. It examined it once before it bit at it. It lifted it in front of it's eyes before nibbling it again, and after another pause, it finally began eating.

Something suddenly darted in the bushes, silent. But the mouse saw the blurs of movement, and froze. It's ears pricked, and it clutched the seed at it's stomach, it's small nose twitching as it smelled the air. Something was out there...and instinct told the mouse it was after it. The mouse swiftly dropped the seed, and before it even hit the ground dashed away.

A small growl sounded from behind it in the bushes before a blur of fur shot toward it, silver claws dancing in the sunlight. There was a single squeal from the mouse before it was silenced forever by the slash of the silver claws.

The cat stood proudly over her kill, purring low in her throat. It was her second catch of the morning, and it wasn't even sunhigh yet. She dug a small hole and dropped the mouse into it, covering it back up. She stood there a moment, lashing her tail gently, feeling the soft breeze through the trees whisper through her fur as it went past. The tortoishell sighed, enjoying the morning, before she started off again. Tawnypaw was indeed ready for a full day of hunting. Her amber eyes flashed in excitement.
