Welcome to Thiasa, an historically-based fantasy RPG. Were you entranced by Caesar's De Bello Gallico? Do you find barbarians warring with a colonizing Medieval kingdom fascinating? Do you just like knights, castles, and axe-wielding barbarians? Then you've come to the right place. On Thiasa, we give two distinct sides a voice. The colonizers, led by King Aelfric, split off from a tyrannical kingdom to found a new kingdom on the island of Thiasa. The natives, torn asunder by years of bloodshed, struggle to regroup and reclaim their land.
Enter the new King. After King Aelfric's death, King Aedan is determined to finish his father's work, and subdue the natives completely. They have other plans. A bloody war looms ahead. The serfs plan an uprising. The Zerui tribe seeks a Thiasan to sacrifice. And the king is still without a proper heir.
What happens next is up to you.

Sparring Ring
Here you may challenge others to official battles. You can join open challenges in the Challenges forum. The person challenged gets to choose the weapon; I recommend sword. An Admin or Mod will judge the bout based on RP skill and the realism of the fight. Then you'll have the chance to win an advancement in rank (particularly valuable to new recruits), a title, or even a fiefdom. Thus far, we're not going to lower anyone in the ranks for losing a single bout, but we'll see...

Challenges
Here you can post OOC requesting a sparring partner; once you have one, an Admin or Mod will post in the thread: they'll be the judge, and you can start your bout. You'll take your bout to the Sparring Ring forum. When you request a bout, make sure you specify the number of rounds (the number of posts you each make). The minimum is three; there's no maximum, but if you plan to exceed the number you've planned on, please make a note of it for the judge after the bout is underway.
