Bernard Swift - July 23, 2008 05:49 PM (GMT)
Earlier Bernard had been eating his breakfast in the mess hall together with a large amount of ale; it was never too early for him to drink. He had been bitter and angry at the military for making him come to this God forsaken place. What’s worse was now he served the King; he absolutely despised the King. He had been brooding over his beer sulkily when he heard a woman’s voice from the table behind him.

“No, sorry. There’s more of it cooking though; it’ll be ready soon. I’ll clean this up.. Yes, excuse me..”

The voice rang in his ears and he looked stealthily over his shoulder back to see her face. He couldn’t believe it, of all places she was here. His heart began palpitating and his adrenaline rose, he was only feet away from her. Between the rage and excitement, he could barely surmount the temptation to turn to her and hit her. No, that wasn’t enough- kill her. He took a knife out and stood, gripping it tightly, on the verge of attacking her, but stabbed his arm instead then swiftly walked out of the room. His mind was racing, he wouldn’t do anything, not yet- he’d wait for the perfect time.

Now he paced through the hallways in a bewildered state, his mind consumed with images and memories, he had to hurt her, make her suffer. This was the first time he had seen her in eleven years. She had completely changed since she was seven, but it was definitely she, looking just like her mother had before she died. He grinned as he remembered Nora's anguish as he had killed her mother. Now he could make her suffer more than she ever had before; no one was there to protect her, no neighbor to take her away from her mean daddy. He would continue his revenge against his parents and God, showing them what evils they had done or allowed to be done to him. He laughed, taking the knife out of his arm, letting blood drip on the floor.
