Bernard Swift - July 21, 2008 04:45 AM (GMT)
Name of Creator: Mary (Nora Swift)
Name of Character: Bernard Swift
Relation to Other Site Characters: father of Nora Swift (he's about 40 years old)
Brief Outline of History:
Bernard had cold-hearted abusive parents and he developed deep physiological problems causing him to be depressed and psychotic. He drank excessively and seeing others suffer was one of his few pleasures; he obsessed over making others suffer in the same ways he had. Like his father, Bernard impregnated a beautiful pious woman and bore a bastard child. His mother had been married to another man, and the woman he impregnated, Agatha, was engaged. Agatha’s father bribed him to marry her, and in a sick twisted way he loved her.

Nora was their child, and he beat her and her mother frequently, staging every beating as it had been for him; it infuriated him that his daughter didn’t react as he had, she didn’t even scream or try to fight back but took them docilely. When Nora was seven, he killed Agatha in front of Nora, as it had been for him. A neighbor stole Nora from him and brought her to a covenant where she would be safe. His life was meaningless now unable to continue to reenact his life; he desperately wanted to find his daughter and make her suffer. He spent most of the next 11 years as a criminal until he was forced to become a conscript. Now he is at the Garrisons which is coincidently where his daughter is as well.

Personality: He’s insane and changes moods easily, but he is obsessed with plotting revenge, so he doesn’t commonly lash out at any random person who annoys him. He takes most insults with a quiet anger that grows inside him until he tries either tries to ruin their life and reputation, or kills them in the dead of night with an axe. He’s cruel and has no soul (or at least one that is certainly going to hell), although he is capable of feigning kindness as means to an end.

Appearance: (He looks like Boromir!) He has light brown hair and eyes and is very strong and confident in his stride.
