Following is a list of all the 'canon' characters we have to date. Mostly I only have their names and ages; only a few have anything further required, and a few don't have ages, either. The creation of the character is substantially up to you. Note: a name with a
strikethrough is a reserved or taken character. To reserve a canon, post below; but you must get the application up within a week or forfeit your claim.
Most Needed Canons marked in
RED. We'd really like to populate the fiefdoms and get some political strife going in Thiasa; we also need a few Endikai Baskar.
Another note: we'll gladly add people to the canon list if your original character needs family, a lover, etc. Just mention it in your application or PM King Aedan I. Characters added by our members are marked in
white.
*Thiasan Knights and Soldiers, of any age, any rank (from Conscript up through Major General), to man the garrison at the Keep and particularly the Border Garrisons: there's a great chance of a skirmish between the border garrisons and the Zerui soon, so this ought to be exciting. For military ranks and information, see
here.
*Lawley Fiefdom Serfs, any age and gender; males will be more involved in their upcoming revolution. This plot should be quite exciting; I hope more people join in on it.
*Father Felix Worth, 26, a young, impassioned priest who's developed a version of liberation theology (the idea that God wants men to be free), and who's inspired Brian Farraday and many of the other Lawley serfs in their revolution. He'll likely remain an advisor, or be horrified by the bloody direction it may take--a really fun role!
*Jonathan 'Jack' Tiernay, 34, the steward of Lawley fiefdom, born to a merchant family, works for the Lawley family exporting grain, ore, etc. and adding to the wealth of the fiefdom. A bit of a scoundrel, or just misguided, he continues the tradition of abusing and bilking the serfs in order to pursue his mercantilist goals (amassing a bunch of gold for the fiefdom and for himself). We could really use him!
*Zerui Warriors, any age, or Zerui chiefs. We really want their plot to move ahead, since at Midsummer, the Zerui will have to face their traditional sacrifice of a high-status enemy... without any official enemies, as they're at peace with both the Endikai and the Thiasans.
*Endikai Males, any age. We have a severe imbalance with more female than male Endikai.
*May Emerson, 41, Madam to most of the whores at the garrison. A whore herself during the first war, when her looks faded she took up the business end of whoring with great success. Please play her as looking older than she is (think graying hair, lined face, probably overweight--back then, 41 was
old). She's the mother of Luke Emerson.
*Luke Emerson, 22, army private (infantry) and son of May Emerson, Madam of the garrison whorehouse.
*Sir Alban Denton, 25-45, ambassador of the Blauvelt Barony, Scalia, accompanying the Baron's youngest daughter, in Thiasa to court the king.
*Lady Hanna Blauvelt, 14, youngest daughter of the Baron Marius Blauvelt of Scalia. The Blauvelt Barony, the southernmost in Scalia, is at war with Scalia's King Hadrian VI. The Baron is therefore considering an alliance with the island kingdom of Thiasa, renowned for its military prowess and feared by King Hadrian because it managed to break away from his rule entirely. If the Baron does ally with King Aedan, however, he'll have to face the fact that the King wishes to rule over him in name--though he'd grant him more freedom than would King Hadrian. And after an alliance with one barony, who's to say Thiasa couldn't one day creep over the mainland to challenge Hadrian himself?
Unfortunately, the marriage prospect for the Lady Hanna and King Aedan are rather shaky, since the Lady Hanna is notoriously ugly. She'll have to make up for it with all the charm and cleverness she can muster.
Lord Alexander Lilienthal, 25, eldest son of the Baron Claudius Lilienthal, currently sought as husband to either Lady Cliona Caethwyn, to bolster an alliance between the Scalian Lilienthal Barony and Thiasa.
*Lady Cliona Caethwyn, 26, sister to the King, widowed or married.
*Prince Fergus Kilgour, 24, brother to the king, unmarried. It might be interesting to play him as jealous of his brother or potentially scheming against him, or maybe just as a drunken rake who brings disgrace to the family and gambles away his money. The possibilities are endless, and I won't restrict you.
*Princess Erin Kilgour, 21, sister to the King, unmarried
*Lord Bertram Heaton, 45, ruler of the Heaton Fiefdom, ceded to King Aelfric when he was 20 and helped him conquer what is now Thiasa.
*Lady Mary Heaton, 40, his wife.
You may also create sons and daughters of the Heatons (Lords and Ladies) of appropriate ages, that is, between 14 and 25.
*Lord Cullen Newbury, 37, ruler of the Newbury Fiefdom, served King Aelfric well when he was only a lad during the last five years of the Barbarian Wars, when he was 17-22. His fiefdom is austere and battle-ready.
*Wilmot _______, over 30, personal manservant to Lord Julian Newbury, the current Newbury heir after his brother's disowning. Wilmot is very close to Lord Julian and helps him a lot in daily life (Julian has a lame leg); he also teases him.
*Sir Roger Newbury, 19. The eldest son of Lord Cullen Newbury, Roger is an athletic, charismatic hothead born to lead. Unfortunately, his temper and stubbornness have resulted in his father disowning him. Landless and cut off, Roger has joined the King's Army as a member of the Cavalry.
*Lord Michael Newbury, 12, Lady Bridget's (fraternal) twin.
*Lady Bridget Newbury, 12, Lord Michael’s (fraternal) twin. The two are always underfoot.
*Lady Isobel Newbury, 16, Lord Cullen's eldest daughter. An attractive but serious young woman, still mourning the loss of her mother two years after her passing.
*Lady Rachel Newbury, 14, second eldest of Lord Cullen's daughters. More spirited than her sister, and idolizes her eldest brother.
*Lord Darien Lawley, 21, ruler of the Lawley Fiefdom, inherited it after his father's death. He's been called reckless, spoiled, and hotheaded.
*Lady Elena Lawley, 14, his sister.
*Lady Katherine Lawley, Darien Lawley and Elena Lawley's mother.
*Sir Anrai McNamara, merchant-knight, 45 years old. A merchant-knight (he deals in jewelry, silks, and glass), Anrai is secretly ambitious. He likes things only if they consider useful and his daughters are NOT useful. He takes a great deal of pride in his firstborn son, and looks down on the younger, who's become a priest. (submitted by Lady Niamh McNamara)
*Sir Ciaran McNamara, 18, a knight. Anrai's eldest son, he is privy to all his father's plotting. He hates his older sister, seeing her as a monstrosity. He doesn't think women should be educated and will do anything to wreck her chances. Ciaran's greatest desire is to be made a lord and marry the heiress of an estate so that he might gain status. He also hopes to follow in his father's footsteps in order to be an advisor to the king. He is also involved in his father's business. (submitted by Lady Niamh McNamara)
*Father Eamonn McNamara, priest, 17 years old, a pious man, Eamonn has just recently becoming a priest to avoid the plotting of their father. He is secretly gay, and so put himself in the cloth for a more tangible reason to stay away. He wishes to work with the natives of Thiasa, a dangerous task, but one he wants desperately. (submitted by Lady Niamh McNamara)
*Neil Sullivan, serf, 29, Neil is the husband of Catria Sullivan. He doesn't have much going for him except for his looks and his kindness. He isn't very smart and tends to follow the crowd a lot. Catria loves him with all of her heart. They have a four-year-old son named Torin. Basically, they were friends when they were younger and that friendship blossomed into a romance. He should have fair or sandy-colored hair. Most of his time is spent in the fields and he disapproves of Catria involving herself in the 'Revolution'.
*Finley Kavanagh, serf, 21, Fin is Catria's younger brother. He is hotheaded and has quite the temper. There is a chance that he'll do something stupid in the 'Revolution' and get himself hurt. He has been very bitter towards life in general ever since his father died a few years ago. He would look a little like Catria Sullivan, though they wouldn't need to have the same hair or eye color.
*Robert Smith, blacksmith, 48, aka "Bobby," "Big Smithy," he has already been described as being "big and burly," with fair hair, tanned skin and blue eyes. He's somewhat of a distant parent, and allows his wife to tend to his children. He's capable of acts of violence, but he's usually mild-tempered and oblivious--apart from when someone calls his wife a whore (not necessarily so with his children). He has hidden hatred against the Catholic church and spends most of his time working in his forge.
*Abbey Smith, Robert's wife and prostitute on the side, 38, she's attractive, "fair" pale skin, blonde and blue-eyed, dominating, and rules the household. She encourages her children to prostitute themselves, and even instructs them on technique. She is very protective of her children, and teaches them to go against the Church (albeit quietly). She saves money often, and is very practical.
*Jessie Smith, prostitute, 13, described as being "dark, with dark hair and eyes". She constantly tries to control John, but hasn't succeeded. She's pretty, flirtatious, obviously a bastard. She has a rivalry with John, and is a willing prostitute that her brother pimps out. Maybe they could be borderline incestuous?
*Lieutenant Varius Facetus, Papal army office (infantry), 25, brother of
Tertius Facetus. Less ambitious, less religious, more relaxed--the brothers don't get along well. Read Tertius's profile for a little more detail; all else is up to you.
*Doran Dwyre, 23, townsman from Winchcombe (same place where Renna Mochrie, Thomas Mochrie, and Teagan Caradoc are from; it's on the border). He's just been conscripted. Mentioned briefly in Tegan Caradoc's profile, but need not have anything to do with her.
*Lady Alice Cathcart, 34, widow of the Lord Cathcart, who held a rather large fiefdom. Still unmarried, with several children, she's a ruthless political manipulator, trying to set her son up with the Princess Erin Kilgour, whom she knows to be likewise a bit of a schemer...
*Lord Cai Cathcart, 18, hapless son of Lady Alice.
*Lady Elayne Argyle, 17, encouraged by her uncle to attempt to woo the king (preferably for marriage).
*Lord Elrich Argyle, 42, scheming owner of a minor fiefdom, uncle of Lady Elayne Argyle.
*Lord Edan Argyle, 39, lost a leg after battle, younger brother of Lord Elrich, lives on his fiefdom.
*Sir ______ Ramsden, 25-50 (up to you), King's spymaster, knighted by the previous king for his bravery in a border skirmish after the official end of the Barbarian Wars.
*Brian Farraday, 19, currently a serf. He may run away/be persuaded to run away by his brother soon, though... we shall see. We've defined his history a bit more than most canons; his brother is
Conn Farraday--please read this profile before writing his. Thus far we've set him up as rather a charmer with ladies. He's tall, blond, and blue-eyed, and missing the last three fingers off his left hand--they were cut off by the rather evil steward of his fiefdom, the now-deceased Eckhard Botolph, on suspicion of thievery. The prior steward, Egon Botolph, used him sexually when he was a boy. Might be interesting to make him a bit of a revolutionary, given all this. When Conn was around he was timid, but then, he was also quite young. I'll give you a free hand with him now. I hope someone does take him--I think he's a great character. You'd also have a chance of getting out of the draft, given the missing fingers.
*Roderick Tremaine, 15, son of Lieutenant Digby Tremaine. He is about to join the army despite his father's command that he not risk his life. Fun, yes?
*Molly Tremaine, 35, common-law wife of Lt. Digby Tremaine and mother of Roderick Tremaine. She was a whore before he married her (because they had conceived Roderick), and thus only mildly devoted to her husband, who chiefly cares about his military life. For the last several years, she's been living on their farm with Rick. The rest is up to you. I'm thinking she can come to the garrison when Rick goes to enlist.
*Unnamed Scalian Scientist, 22-55, expert in ballistics and chemistry (he's working on explosives). Must be willing to do a little research and a lot of creativity (yes, you can make up substances). Helping the Thiasan military and King Aedan in exchange for gold... or his life... or a title... up to you. This could be fun. Note: we have one of these, but there's always room for more scientists (natural philosophers more properly), physicians, etc.
*Missionaries, priests who will go and establish Catholic missions on Baskari land.
*Physicians, for the army (we really need army physicians) or otherwise. They would have been trained through apprenticeships or at the Scalian College of Physicians. You ought to know at least something about the Medieval theory of the humors and Medieval medicine in general, but you may make up remedies if you like. They were reasonably silly back then, and believed plants shaped like the diseased organ could cure sickness; pouring the juice of a cooked onion into the ear was believed to cure deafness; etc. On the other hand, bleeding could be efficacious, and they did manage to discover
some cures that actually worked. A really skilled physician could perform minor surgery and leave the patient alive. Amputations and wound-dressing were actually more straight-forward--simply pouring alcohol into a wound would be very effective, and you could perform an adequate amputation by leaving a flap of skin and sewing it shut. Of course, there were some rather silly superstitions even among trained doctors, such as the idea that packing all sorts of strange substances (manure, for example) into a wound could cure it. PM King Aedan if you have questions about any of this.
*General Laurent West , tactician and military commander, advisor to the King (should be over 25, preferably over thirty, but we can make exceptions if a good character is drawn, with interesting reasons for being so young and in such a position of power)
*Camp Followers, prostitutes for the army, they live in little, makeshift villages near the border garrisons. You may also play a prostitute anywhere else. Thiasa Keep might be a particularly exciting place to do this, as every once in awhile, the Guard rounds up prostitutes and tries to 'rehabilitate' them. Much entertainment all 'round. The Baskar also have prostitutes, women who sell their bodies in exchange for food, but among them it is usually only the very poor or somehow disgraced and unmarriageable who do it.
*Servants, male and female, working at the border garrisons--a way to be in on the action if you're a woman or crippled or etc.
*Warlord Endika sem'Edur, 17, leader of the Endikai.
*_______ ________, wife of Warlord Endika. With the ascension of the new warlord there is room for wives, but lets not go overboard, he is still quite young.
*Shaman Aitor sem'Danel, 23, a young shaman of the Endikai.
*Nekane alab-Edur, sister and wife of Warlord Endika
*Ederne alab'Edur, 19, sister of Warlord Endika.
*Garden alab'Otsoa, 8, daughter of Otsoa sem'Patxi. She was taken away from her father 5 years ago when he lost his spirit (see info on the Baskar) and has been living with her grandmother, Apain, ever since. Her mother killed herself when Garden was barely 3 years old. She hasn't really been developed much yet but she looks a lot like her father (very dark features). Everything else is up for discussion; PM Otsoa sem'Patxi.
*Chief Eneko sem'Gorka, 21, subtribal chieftain and warrior of the Endikai.
*Chief Erlantz sem'Argider, 19, the young son of the chief who accidentally bargained the Warlord's sister-wife away to the interlopers. Warlord Ekain killed his father, and now he has a grudge against the Warlord himself...
*Edorta sem'Argi, 19, a two-spirited Endikai who has the spirit of a man and a woman. He'll soon fall in love with Xanti, son of the Zerui Warlord... or at least lust... or perhaps he's just toying with Xanti? Who knows; somehow he'll be the one to persuade him to leave behind his people. Any takers?
*Warlord Zeru sem'Zigor, 36, leader of the Zerui. You must be willing to work closely with the Admins on this character, as he's fairly important to the plot. We'd much prefer you be available via IM. Suggested playby:
Wes Studi (we don't usually suggest playbys, but we really like him :P ).
*______ ________ , wife of Warlord Zeru. We'll take up to 10 wives; then it gets ridiculous.
*Peio sem'Zigor, 31, eldest brother of Warlord Zeru. (We'll take more brothers or sisters for both Warlords)
*Amaya alab'Zigor, 30, sister and wife of Warlord Zeru. (See the customs of the Baskar for explanation; the eldest sister of a Warlord always becomes his wife. Amaya is actually the second eldest sister of the Zeru, the eldest being Arima, a healer who fell in love with an Endikai warrior and left her people to be with him. The mother of Bikendi sem'Zuzen, she died of an unknown sickness when the boy was young.)
*Xanti sem'Zeru, 18, eldest son of Warlord Zeru.
Iñaki sem'Zeru, 16, second son of Warlord Zeru.
*Esti alab'Zeru, 14, daughter of Warlord Zeru.
*Peru sem'Argi, 16, a sort of follower to Mikel, bullied by his father.
*Argi sem'Basajaun, 40, his father, a strong warrior, intolerant of weaklings and fools. He isn't a chief, but he has high status in the tribe, and he's trusted by Zeru.
*Indar sem'Odol, 19, a friend of
Izotz sem'Hibai, a member of the small tribe led by the insane chief Hibai. For more information on the tribe, read Izotz's application. We've got some exciting plot with this little subtribe--such as planning the death of Hibai himself, etc....
*Chief Zuriñe alab'Ortzi, 33, subtribal chieftainess of the Zerui. Her gender has made it hard for her to get respect, but she inherited the title from her dead husband, because their only child was a daughter. The title will pass on to her daughter's first son, but for now her daughter is only eight years old.
*Yanamari alab'Erramun, Chief Zuriñe's daughter, 8, she hasn't been developed at all or mentioned in any post yet, but reading Zuriñe’s history would give an idea of what she's been through. She will take charge of the tribe after her mother's death until her son can make the lineage male again, so there will be a great deal of pressure on her to find a husband when she reaches marriageable age (13).
*Chief Ganix sem'Erramun, 45, subtribal chief of the Zerui and famed warrior who fought in the Barbarian Wars.
*Healer Ekaitz sem'Ion, a healer of the Zerui. It might be interesting to make him deaf. Who knows...
Note: the canon list can be extended if members PM me requesting someone related to their character, etc. This board won't be chiefly canon-based, though, these are just the characters we really need, and a few to give a better idea of the Baskar.
