Brief Outline of Personality, History, and Appearance:
The youngest out of eight daughters, Nahia was raised to be a proper Zerui woman. Compared to Indar, Nahia is the perfect child. She is quiet and submissive towards men, even more so to her older brother, Gogo. She is dedicated to her work as a midwife and caring for young children and infants; ‘One day,’ they say, ‘She will be one of the best of wives.’ It is only through Indar’s persistent interference that Nahia has not been married, as a matter of fact. It would be unlucky to separate twins when they are unwilling to part with each other, after all.
Indar has refused to allow Nahia to marry not necessarily because of his devotion to her—he loves her dearly, but wants her to live the life of a good woman. It is because Indar knows that Nahia is perfect to strangers, but she has her secrets. It is not a secret that she supplies Indar with Datura, but this is:
When she was fifteen, she was still training to become a midwife. The woman who had taken her on as an apprentice had sent Nahia out to observe a birth in a neighboring tribe, to study the subtle differences between the traditions of the two tribes. The birth had gone well, and Nahia was on her way back to da’Hibaii when she was distracted by a strange voice.
It was an interloper man, something she had never seen in her life. She had heard before of their ugliness, of their ruthlessness in battle, but this man was different then what she had heard. He was a handsome man, and spoke a few words of Baska. Despite some difficulties communicating, the two had a good time out on the river Oran. The man even gave her a kiss at the end of the evening. Nahia had run home, her face still red when she reached home.
Since then, Nahia has been obsessed with the Thiasans. She is not anywhere near fluent in Scalian, but she has learned enough to communicate with anyone she meets along the border. Indar does not know what happened that night, but he knows that his sister has a dangerous fascination.
Nahia is a beautiful young woman, in the Baskari sense of the word. She is not, however, satisfied with this. She wants to be paler, with blue eyes and light hair, for that is what is pretty to the Thiasans. She’s jealous of Renna, actually, for actually being so pretty in the Thiasan way.
