Occupation: Warrior, horseman, and part time datura dealer

Place of Habitation: da’Izotzi

Physical Description (five sentence minimum):

Tall and lanky with thick, dark hair, Indar is not too bad looking. Almost everything about him is lazy—his hair is never up and rarely looks brushed, he walks with an odd sort of air, and he smiles just so lazily. He’s clean though, takes good care of himself, but he does smell a bit horse-y. It’s not a terrible thing, though, to smell a little more horse-y when the lifeblood of your people happens to be horses.

He does wear some trinkets, though, all bartered through datura. A choker of bone, a small pendant carved from wood, and a leather armband. He thinks this makes him quite the dandy—all of his adornments are of quite good quality.

Personality (eight sentence minimum):

Indar’s gentle and laid back—very little bad could be said of his general temperament. Typically obedient and respectful to his elders, would help little old ladies cross busy streets if there were busy streets anywhere nearby, that sort of thing. However, he does have a rebellious streak when it comes to his older brother Gogo. Indar regularly ignores Gogo’s wishes and orders, whether or not they’d be good or bad. Indar just plain dislikes Gogo. He’s like Izotz with the entire stick-up-the-arse thing, but at least Izotz doesn’t try to be his father.

Indar does fail in the eyes of his people in couple ways: firstly, he’s very open with his datura dealing and addiction. He’s also terrible at combat when he’s on foot, no matter the weapon. He’s completely unrepentant about this, and would rather sit back and watch the clouds then practice his combat. The exception to this is when he is on horseback—his mastery of horsemanship overrides any clumsiness Indar has on foot.

Indar is generally friendly, as well, but would not consider many actual friends. His sister Nahia is his complete and absolute confidant as well as datura supplier, Izotz is friend as Izotz can be, and Indar could almost consider the horses his friends with as much time as he spends with them.

But Indar is also a very perceptive young man, and he has had a strange feeling that something was wrong with the Hibaii, and that has not changed since they became the Izotzi. Indar isn’t quite sure what, yet, and isn’t quite sure he wants to, honestly. What’s wrong with the Izotzi is wrong with him, as well.

History (ten sentence minimum):

Pozne and Odol were given quite the surprise one winter when Indar and Nahia were born. Pozne had been older when her last child, Igone, was born, and was even older when she had her second set of twins. Pozne was a strong woman, however, and was able to bear the twins to almost full term, and she survived the day-long labor without a cry of pain. This was her eigth labor—she was used to it by now. But winter passed, and spring arrived, bringing with it fever. When summer arrived, Pozne had been cremated for many weeks. For five years, Odol was able to somehow raise his two sons and eight daughters, but he too would soon face his funeral pyre after a disastrous raid. This left Gogo, at the time in his twenties, to watch after his nine younger siblings.

Gogo did his best; his sisters became graceful women, and with the exception of his youngest sister, he has found husbands for all of his sisters. He himself married well, and would eventually have children of his own. The only area he failed at was the care of his family’s herd of horses; Odol had never quite clicked with horses, which was quite unfortunate as his family for generations had the reputation for breeding the finest horses. But there is only so much time in the day, and there was only so much energy Gogo could spend on his family. Sometimes, things fell through the cracks. Indar, on the occasion, was one of those things.

Not that Indar never received attention—his older sisters doted on him. It was the unfortunate sort of doting, though. His sisters preferred to dress him in Nahia’s clothing and giggle at him. Gogo did nothing to stop this, and Indar’s resentment of his older brother began to grow.

Indar’s only comforts were in his twin, Nahia, who never tried to dress him up, and in helping tend to the family herd. Unlike Gogo, Indar was extremely talented when it came to horses. When he was with the herd, he was no longer Indar, the boy whose sisters dressed him up in girl’s clothing, but someone, something else entirely.

While Indar was learning the way of horses and of being a warrior, Nahia had begun training as a midwife. Her training sometimes required her to leave her tribe for short periods of time. On one of these occasions, Nahia snuck away and ventured to the border, and met a young Thiasan soldier. Nahia, newly turned fifteen, flirted openly with the young man, and even stole a kiss. Here, her fascination with the interlopers was born. While Nahia has never spoken directly with Indar about the incident, Indar is well aware of her fascination and has desperately tried to hide it from his tribesmen.

As for Indar’s affection for datura, that began when he was sixteen. It had not been a good day—Indar doesn’t recall what exactly happened, but he thinks that one of the new foals had gotten snatched by a wolf, and Izotz or someone else had just been a jackass about everything. Indar was close to breaking down into tears or violence, whichever came first, but then Nahia handed him a pouch full of something and told him to smoke it.

Needless to say, there’s a good reason why Indar can’t quite remember what happened that day.

As Indar has grown, he has seen his sisters less and less, mainly because they married. He is not too upset about that, but he still sees Gogo on a regular basis. Indar and Gogo’s relationship has completely soured, but they cannot quite disown each other quite yet, as they both are necessary to keep their claim on the family herd.

Indar has friends almost everywhere, or at least, he can make them everywhere due to his datura dealings. He rarely trades for physical goods at the time of the deal, but mostly for… favors. Just little promises--you’ll help me out when I need it, right? I scratch your back, you scratch mine.

Plot Potential:
He deals datura; I think that covers most of it. Indar is also desperately trying to protect his interloper-loving sister from pretty much anything that moves.

SAMPLE RP (with this character only):

It was a sweet day, with the grass whistling and the clouds covering the sun just so. The horses were taken care of and the herd was in a particularly good mood today. Nahia had even managed to find him a new supply of datura just when he was almost out. Such a sweet day deserved just as sweet an evening. With no other work waiting him after he had finished up with the last of the horses, Indar decided to settle himself with his favorite pipe in the tent he shared with Nahia. With his pipe filled with a simple mixture of datura and a few other herbs, Indar took in a deep inhale. And another, and another.

Ah. There it went. Colors were so much clearer when he was smoking. Everything was so much more vibrant when he was smoking. Even Nahia, sweet beautiful creature she was even before he lit the pipe. Even the sudden dull pain in his head was so much brighter then it would be otherwise.

Wait. He didn’t normally have a headache when he was smoking; sometimes afterwards if he didn’t mix things right, but not during. And his face was now thoroughly planted in the dirt, and he was pretty sure he had sat on his bed before smoking.

“INDAAAAR!” Indar turned his head toward the roar. Ahh, Nahia. Sweet Nahia—no one in this tribe was worthy of her. Not even stick-up-the-ass Izotz. Even if she was several times more violent then any of their other sisters, Nahia was such a dear to him. “Indar, you fool! You couldn’t even wait a day to smoke, could you? Now get clear up and get out--Gogo has called for you.”

Oh hell. Dealing with Gogo the Bastard was hard enough when he was sober. Nahia began to pull him up, dusting him off as she babbled on about something probably important. Indar had a hard time listening to her when his mind was racing in such bright colors. She asked if he’d be able to make it to Gogo’s tent on his own, and he thinks he answered in the affirmative, even if he didn’t, he was waltzing off to Gogo’s tent.

Gogo sat on the floor, looking serious. His wife and his youngest son sat off to the side, doing something. Indar didn’t pay them too much mind. They were taught to stay silent when Gogo was trying to discipline his wayward brother.

The smart thing Indar could to would to sit before Gogo with his head bowed, completely submissive while Gogo railed on and on about Indar’s latest failure. Indar, however, was typically too impertinent to do the smart thing, and on top of that, he was stoned out of his mind by this point. Instead, Indar sat beside Gogo and slung his arm about Gogo’s shoulders.

“Gogo, my boy! What’s this I see? Your woman’s still not pregnant again? Getting a little weak in your old age, eh?”

He was going to hear about this from Nahia later, but at least it was fun right now.

What's the name of the Creator God the Ekaini worship?: ((yes))

Great app! I like that he doesn't quite fit in with the former Hibaii... interesting.

I think you misinterpreted 'groomsman'--I'm reasonably sure it doesn't apply to the Zerui. I don't care all that much, though.

I'm glad we have a datura dealer. Those are fun. I'm also impressed that you've planned out such a huge family! I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of NPCs running around. And I love the family dynamic.

Accepted. We shall plot some friendly things soon.
