Occupation: lady...ing
Place of Habitation: Lawley Fiefdom
Physical Description (five sentence minimum):
Elena is a wisp of a creature. She is a rather slight fifteen with the start of a good figure and almost a pallor to her skin. This can be blamed on the lack of sun she gets as a Lady imprisoned by her studies, genetic tendency, and being forced into gowns of entirely the wrong colors by her maids. (Or so the story goes). Of yet none suspect that the young woman makes herself unimpressive on purpose, because, well, why? Elena is very good at fading into the background when she wishes to, and more often than not she wishes to. Those who are allowed to look closely might discover promises of beauty in the finely sculpted bones of her face, so she allows none to look closely. The most a stranger might remember is a brown or orange gown and a mass of dark hair caught back in a braid, as well as long lashes curling against her cheek. Very few meet the Lady's glance to learn that she has eyes the same bluegreen color as her brother's.
Personality (eight sentence minimum):
Lady Lawley is too versatile to really have her personality put into a shoebox. In her heart of hearts she is a gentle dreamer, a lover of legends and romance, but she has to acknowlege the weakness of that position. Therefore the only one truly aware of its existance is her faithful bodyguard and friend Aelf. Aside from her hidden soft spot, she is clever, commanding, and determined. Elena has a strong self-confidence that comes fromt he love of both her (deceased) father and (beloved) guard. As she puts it, "I'm not afraid of getting married. Only of getting married to the wrong person." In her case, that entails wedding someone too smart or cruel to let her push him around. She knows that she was born a leader, and she wants to stay in that position no matter what.
So far, she's doing very well at it. The multiple facets of her personality added to her determination allow her to respond to the people around her almost like a chameleon. Simple and sweet one moment, cruel and cold the next, practical one day and dreaming the next. She recognizes this trait as a talent (because it is done very, very conciously) and has convinced herself that in one way or another, she will have power-bloodless power, achieved by her cleverness and approaching beauty alone. The girl has entertained dreams of someday being Queen, but now that Aedan is married she's given up on that and focused instead on her beloved Lawley fiefdom.
History (ten sentence minimum):
As far as noble young ladies go, Elena was actually very lucky. Instead of cursing her for her sex, Lord Elliott doted on his daughter and gave her anything in his power to give. Hunting birds, an aviary, horses, gowns, jewelry, lessons in every subject imaginable, books, and absolutely no talk of betrothals. He found that the young Lady of the manor was far more dependable and capable than her elder brother, and often remarked that if he could he would leave it to her for her inheritance. (This caused more than a little tension between the siblings, because Elena was inclined to agree with the late Lord despite her affection for Darien).
Still, Thiasan inheritance laws aside, the girl was well able to content herself with her father's company and the affairs of the fiefdom, and could not have asked for anything to make her happier. Needless to say her father's death was devastating for the child, and she withdrew into her room for weeks on end. When she finally emerged she was a changed person-less likely to smile, but more determined than ever. Elena was well aware that some day, probably sooner than later, her much-disliked mother would make a marriage for her, but she decided to stall the day as long as she could. It could be honestly said that her only concern was the fate of her father's fiefdom. For his sake she determined to see it prosper, whether in her hands of her brother's. Darien has often frustrated her with his careless habits, and at the moment she plans to persuade him to marry the first woman with sense he comes upon. Whatever happens to her, her primary goal is to let her father rest in peace with his lands safely stable.
Plot Potential: Oh, lots. Betrothals, rebellions, sibling arguments, scheming, maybe mistressing....who knows? There's a lot going on at Lawley these days.
SAMPLE RP (with this character only):
Elena drummed her fingers on the windowsill and disrupted her cat, a grey tabby who gave her a baleful stare before leaping off the ledge. The young lady of Lawley Fiefdom ignored the animal and sighed, then turned to look at the man waiting in her chamber. He was older, with grey streaks in his golden hair, but sturdy and something in his eyes spoke of strength as he returned her gaze. Without a word Elena crossed to him and nestled into his arms, hiding her face in his shoulder. "...Oh, Aelf."
There was a moment of silence, punctuated only by a faint 'thud' or two as the Celt patted his charge on the back, and then Elena pulled away and straightened out her skirts. She spoke briskly and stared once more out the window, part of the unspoken agreement that Aelf would not see her weep for now apparent reason. "We need to get somebody at Court. I know Mother's busy snooping her nose around, but I would rather find my own man and reel him in without her interference. She doesn't know what I need, and I am afraid I don't know what powerful, eligible men are available for me to have. We need to look for Darien, too. The way he gallavants around is ridiculous."
Aelf rubbed the back of his neck. "You know, milady, this would be easier if your brother wasn't here."
She whirled, the shock plain on her face. "Aelf!" Elena spoke with heat. "I know it would be easier, but I shan't stoop to that. You know it. I will not hear such talk again; not from you!"
He shrugged. "Forgive me, milady. I only thought I would suggest."
Elena snorted and turned back to her view, her shoulders still tense. "Well, don't suggest it again. You're smart; I am utterly confident that you can come up with a better idea."
What's the name of the Creator God the Ekaini worship?: ((yes))
Hm.... so she's a gentle dreamer, but highly ambitious? How is that gentle? Perhaps clear this up for me, or simply for yourself. Not a requirement; this app is fine, and I think I do know what you're going for, but it's something to think on.
Wonderful plot potential, though. Might she help or manage to somehow foil the serf rebellion? Or fail at foiling it?
Accepted.
Hmm, I do agree that that didn't come out as well as it could have, but I'm rather stuck on wording. Perhaps it would have been better to say that she's conflicted- a child in love with the old legends, and also a woman grasping for the best things she can reach. Right now the two halves are definitely struggling with each other.
Isn't puberty fun? ^.^
And yes, I fully intend to do something with that thar rebellion. I'll have to rp it out to see what she decides to do, though.
