Character Name: Will Callahan
Canon/Original: Original
Gender: male
Age: 23
Family:
Father - Johnathan Callahan I - 51
Mother - Katherine Callahan - 49
Brother - Johnathan Callahan II - 28
Spirit:: n/a
Occupation: Thief
Place of Habitation: Lawley Fiefdom, primarily.
Physical Description (five sentence minimum): He is rather gangly with brownish blonde hair. Will also has fair white skin that does tan if he is out in the sun long enough. His most intriguing feature is the set of his eyes. No matter how you look at them they always seem to be sparkling. He is 6'1" with a killer smile.
Personality (eight sentence minimum): Will is very charming, though he hardly ever is sincere about anything, especially compliments. Will has plenty of sexual experience, though nothing that would equate into a relationship. He was even rumored to have stolen money from 50 women's bed chambers in one night. Exaggerated tale, possibly, but he will neither confirm nor deny anything. Will would rather hang from the gallows rather than work one day of honest labor, and had it not been for the fact that the one time he got caught by the guards he was in the company of Darien Lawley who was in as much guilt as he was, he would have indeed hung from the gallows. Will never has found fulfillment in even the idea of being with a woman, however being in the company of men had always left him desiring more from them. He may cast it aside as simply wanting more of their money, but even when he has left them penniless, he seems to crave them. Will's dreams are filled with delusional messages that seem to have several strange meanings. He enjoys dreams of being caught trying to steal a strong, attractive man's money and being punished for it. The dreams are almost arousing.
History (ten sentence minimum):
Will tries to work as little as possible. If truth be told, he is a rogue thief. He spends most of his life pick-pocketing to make a living. Will Callahan has only worked three weeks in his life, he was fired from his father's shop when he was caught stealing from several guests. Will was 13 at the time and was all but shunned by his family for it. Occasionally, Will writes to his mother since he wanders the road looking for an easy way to make some extra money, but he has yet to receive a letter back from her. Probably because he is never in the same place long enough for a letter to make its way to him.
Before he left his family, his mother had asked him the question that would lead the course of his life.
"Son, why did you steal from those people?" Katherine Callahan asked with deep and genuine concern for her son.
Will had to think about it for awhile, the question had never been why but why not? As Will searched his own thoughts, his mother searched her son's eyes. She found the eyes seemingly cold, as if the thought of theft did not register as wrong in his mind.
Finally, Will grinned as he answered his mother's inquiry. "Simple. The reason I steal is because everyone is a thief in one way or another. The lowest peasant steals the lives of creatures for food, including Father. All the way to the King himself who steals land from the Baskar in order to make his own prosperous. I just believe there is no shame in it. Besides, why stop the family tradition. Grandfather was a baker, Father became a butcher, Johnathan became a soldier, why can't I become a thief?"
Besides being caught by his father at the age of 13, Will has been caught stealing on one other occasion. Will decided to get a little ambitious and actually try to rob a member of the Lord's family. Lord Elliot Lawley was constantly surrounded by guards, as was his wife. As for Elena Lawley, she was always daddy's little girl and went every he did if she could. Darien, on the other hand, was a bit more adventurous and would wander away from his guards, or so it seemed. One night, Will watched him leave the safety of his home to go to a nobleman's home in the dead of night. Darien had actually gone straight into the stables where he was met by one of the ladies of the house. Will watched as Darien and the girl had their way with each other disrobing to become more free to do such things. While Darien and the lady were busy, Will began looking through his clothes to see what he could find when he was grabbed from behind and pinned to the wall of the stable. He turned and saw a middle aged man holding a very large knife to Will's back. Darien finally decided to see what the commotion was and simply smiled. After checking to see that all of his things were in tact, he looked at the man with the knife and simply said, "Oh let him be, one has to admire the audacity."
Plot Potential: Will, being a thief, there are several pieces of plots that could happen. I would say there is definitely plot potential with Darien, but since he is one of my characters I will only pursue that if there is nothing else. Probably the best potential would be that Will is going to discover that he is gay, but I will need a man who can dominate him. Will is horribly arrogant, so possible suitors beware. Also, Will is willing to steal for hire, so if there are any nobles wanting something stolen for the right price, try to find Will.
SAMPLE RP (with this character only):
Will sat at the corner table of the bar waiting for him patiently. The man was already ten minutes late, which did nothing to calm the nerves that had already begun to spark in his mind. Everything about this job had seemed to go wrong. First, the item that Will was to steal, a ruby jeweled chalice, had not been in the Heaton castle at all. Then, when Will finally did find the bloody thing, he had nearly gotten his head chopped off by a very disgruntled servant.
Will still chuckled over the fact that Newbury family was so certain that the chalice had been taken by someone in the Heaton Fiefdom. Will had to do a little investigating in order to finally find it. Oddly enough, the chalice never left Newbury. One of the servants had taken it and had left a Newbury crest behind in order to blame the neighboring Fiefdom.
All in all, the journey back and forth to find the damn chalice was rather taxing for the thief, but fortunately if you were a good thief you never paid for anything. When Will had gone to steal the chalice back from the thief, the heavy set middle-aged man had been swinging a very large axe. The man had finally stopped swinging when his hand went to his chest and collapsed. Will simply grinned as he hopped out the second story window to make his escape. Will heard later that the servant had been killed by a heart attack. At least he would not have to worry about anyone turning him into the authorities.
Finally, the man came into the bar and looked around for the man he was expected to meet. Will lifted his glass of ale to the man to signal his presence. The servant, named Gregory, had told the thief that his masters would be paying him. Will could not help but notice that the servant seemed rather light footed for someone who was supposed to be carrying 40 gold in his pocket.
Gregory sat down across from him and gave a very nervous smile. "So, did you get it?" It was the first thing out of his mouth, now Will knew something was up. Will let the small knife he kept up his sleeve slide down into his hand under the table as he smiled at the man.
"Ran into some complications. I had to hide the chalice for awhile. Where's my money?" Will asked bringing the knife at a ready position beneath the table.
The servant's eyes looked straight down at the ground. "I told you, no money without the chalice," Gregory stood up and dared to look Will in the eye. His hands placed on either side of the table.
The servant didn't even have time to blink before Will had brought the knife over the top of the table and stuck it through the servant's left hand. Immediately, Will grabbed the man by the back of the neck and slamed it against the table to prevent the man from screaming in agony. Will leaned down onto the table and whispered in the man's ear. "Don't ever cheat a thief. It's not the wisest course of action. My guess is that the Newbury's had blamed you for the missing chalice and gave you the opportunity to find it. A shame that because you went back on your word, I will have to go back on mine and you will be facing the gallows. I was even willing to forgive the fact that that chalice is worth three times the amount you were paying me to get it. Too bad," said Will as he got up from the table, reached into the other man's pockets to take the ten gold that the man had and flipped one to the bartender as he left the establishment. Perhaps he'd go back to Heaton, maybe they would be interested in paying the price for the chalice.
Will still chuckled over the circumstances.
What's the name of the Creator God the Ekaini worship?: ((right))
Sounds good to me, though I'd like to hear more background on his family--for instance, what do they do? I assume his father is an artisan. So why did he start thieving? Generally he would've been in training to follow in his father's footsteps in the trade--is it simple rebellion, or what?
Sort that out, and I think you'll understand the character better, too.
Otherwise, it's acceptable.
I made some adjustments to the History as you requested. I'm really excited to start playing with Will. It will definitely be an interesting story.
Thanks.
Who are the 'Nekani'? Do you mean the Baskar, or the 'barbarians' (which is what most Thiasans would call them?
I'm going to assume you know, but please correct that before you start RPing.
Still, going to accept this. Have fun with him. :)
