Physical Description (five sentence minimum):

Elsie is not one of the prettiest damsels around, but her appearance does have a uniqueness and demonstrates her consistency towards her work. She carries an adequate tan due to the time she spends working beneath the tiresome sun. A frame of golden hair embraces her young-looking face, where her blue eyes stand out to form the best window for her compassionate soul to look out of.

Her build is not one for height, therefore she cannot be described as tall. She has her fair share of curves with quite an attractive waist, overall she has quite an athletic build from being on her feet all day. She is light-footed, but it does not stop her from stumbling. Along with the athletic construction comes a sense of endurance. Because she cannot afford the most comfortable shoes her feet are hard and calloused. She has quite long legs in comparison to her upper body, which makes it hard for her to fit correctly into many clothing items passed onto her.

Elsie will wear whatever will fit her, and whatever she can afford. A lot of the time it is a mixture of materials sewn together, but it bothers her not. She has a sense of hygiene, and makes sure she always has a particular nice scent trailing behind her.

Personality (eight sentence minimum):

Being a commoner sets no boundaries for this humble personality. There is not so much preservation towards being mature, and therefore Elsie likes to enjoy life by each moment. She is quite an individual, and has a uniqueness not displayed in many of the other serving women. She likes to embrace her youth, but at the same time she is caring and thoughtful. This does, in no way make her perfect. However young at heart and caring she may be, it does not mean she won’t get straight to the point and tell others what she thinks of them.

She is not truly brave or courageous, nor is she cunningly smart; it comes with a lack of education. However she is confident within herself and has a strong sense of pride attached to her personality that tends to drive her into being open. She is realistic and pragmatic. She can have a temper, which is usually invoked by ruthless and atrocious people. Generally scary men. The temper can also land her in bad moods for a period of time, and during these times she can be quite disruptive and rebellious.

She has a loyalty to her peers and those above her, but it is only a fraction compared to the loyalty she holds for her family and friends. Her loyalty and trust in many people is perhaps one of her tragic traits, for sometimes she can ultimately trust anyone. Elsie is quite optimistic, when she wants to be. It comes with her bubbly love of life.

History (ten sentence minimum):

Elsie was born into a lower class family. Both her parents were serfs under the jurisdiction of Lord Lawley I. She was the youngest of three and was the only girl. She barely spent time with her parents, as they were constantly effective to Lord Lawley I to get just another coin to get by. She was usually left in the care of her brothers, however they too had obligations. Sometimes she was left alone, in which she became very curious and travelled about on the streets. She managed to steal food when she was hungry. However, she was quite a creative child and learnt that by singing in public she could easily gain a coin or two to get something to eat. However most days she was not successful.

When she was 8 her eldest brother left home. Conn had tried to persuade both Brain and herself to go along, however Brian created such an argument towards his attachment to his parents that he did not leave. Elsie did not go, perhaps it was because her comfort zone was here and she knew how she could live, even without her parents about. However, still a child she would not leave her parents and so Conn left them.

Two years passed by and Elsie and Brian had become quite close. Their parents were growing old and they were becoming feeble and were not able to work as much. This meant they had no income and no food. Brian worked, but whatever he gained could only feed himself and he needed the food to keep himself going. Therefore Elsie began working for the keep. She cooked, she cleaned, she sewed clothing and she did whatever else would bring in coin to keep her parents alive. This meant she barely ate, she would only nibble on a few small pieces of food and she would be off again.

Eventually, within a period of working hard- another 2 years, she was placed in a team of women to work at the Garrison. Even though it pained Elsie to move away from her parents and brother, she knew it was perhaps for best. It was a chance she wasn’t going to let down either, as it offered her more than what she earned in 2 months of the exact hard labour she had drilled down for the past 2 years. It would also give her the chance to repay her parents for the hard work they had done for her. Therefore, she moved to the Garrison and bunked with the other women.

Due to the hours she worked, Elsie really had no chance to visit her family. She did not know what had happened to Conn, she had not seen him for almost 5 years. However, she still kept in contact with her mother, father and Brian through letters. She would also send on two thirds of her total income to support them. Since having moved to the Garrison she has never left it.

Plot Potential:

Elsie is a strong girl therefore, it is possible that she will face some extremes. She is a commoner, yet has the potential to stand out from all the others. This is because she has so many qualities that will help her pursue the right to freedom.

She is clever, and generally bright, which will influence the concept of learning and attempting new things. In attempting new things, she will leave comfort zones and trespass the walls that have kept her safe. So, she may be active in many law breaking schemes once she is reacquainted with family members and realises the truth behind Conn’s disappearance. She may also learn of Brian’s secrets which will help influence her to question herself as an individual, and what she is really doing with her life.

Is she going to be a slave to other people for the rest of her life, and let them run her bone dry like they have done to her parents? Is she going to continue following other people’s orders just to make life that little bit easier? Well of course she isn’t!

Everyone deserves freedom and everyone should have rights. Not just those with blood of nobility. Elsie is destined to do something different with her life. She is cunning, and smart. Her ability to make things work for her, has always been important in her life, why should she work for others when she can work for herself? It is possible that Elsie will turn away from the life she knows and join her brother. This will come about when Conn exposes his reason for his disappearance. Where she will realise that the life she knows is wrong.

SAMPLE RP (with this character only):

It was a warm morning. Enough not to wear layers upon layers of clothing. She wore a simple emerald gown, in which she had inherited somewhere along the lines and ties of her family, and was perhaps one of the best gowns she owned. She wore no shoes, those she owned simply didn’t fit her feet any longer and she found it unbearable to wear them. Instead she tied some material around them to protect them from the mud, it seemed like a good idea until the mud began to soak into them. They were almost instantly discarded.

So without shoes, and without any other protection for her feet she carried on moving to her post. She was a servant at the garrison and therefore made sure she was always on time. Those above her did not approve of those whom turned up late, and for the moment Elsie intended to remain in their good shoes. She needed all the coinage she could get. It must be the survival instinct, for the entire job revolted her. Half the time she had men swooning over her, in which she could not escape. Just for the records she had never submitted to any of them. Her chaste treasure remained intact. It was the one thing she remained intent on keeping.

She picked up her gown, the hem was muddy which irritated her to a frustrated point. She quickly made her way into the garrison, where the other women she worked with were preparing food for the soldiers. It was better then what Elsie herself got some nights. She wrapped her apron around her body, and tied her hair back with a piece of material in the pocket of the apron and busied herself putting food into the bowls of hungry eyed servicemen.

Her respect level for some of them increased, and for others decreased. In some instances she would get a nice thankyou and a respectable good morning and in other instances she would get sly looks and irritating comments from those who thought it funny to joke about a woman’s virginity. She had to resist the urge to throw the bowls at them instead of hand it off to them and bid them a good day, and that was mighty hard.

Once she had not been able to resist the urge to throw the bowl at one of them, and had coincidentally landed herself in quite a hostile position with the soldier and a few of his comrades. Of course they were all old enough to not tell their superiors, but her safety had gone from sustainable to the ground. Luckily enough fate had given her the chance to redeem herself and the soldiers were relocated to another venue.

“Elsie when your finished there, go fill a few pails with water,” said an older woman, whom happened to be Elsie’s supervisor. Elsie finished handing out the breakfast bowls, and turned to the older woman whom threw a few buckets at her. Elsie dropped one of them on her foot, she had to bit her lip to stop herself from squealing. This was one of the reasons why she should have been wearing shoes.

I like your history. You've clearly read the info. You might want to work a little on your writing style--think about flow, write like you would talk, etc.--and it'd be a little easier to follow. As is, I find it a little choppy.

But that's a minor concern.

I like the depth of your personality, too. Well done. I think she'll manage to have an interesting life, even if interaction with royalty (as I told you) is unlikely.

As for plot potential, you may want to post a wanted ad for a few of the soldiers at the garrison/other maids/etc. I'm sure there will be plenty going on.

You're accepted. Go for it. I have a few characters (soldiers, etc.) you might like to RP with, and I'm sure others will be up for it, too.
