So I'm one of those people obsessed with personality tests (it's a sign of egoism). While I like personality tests myself, I'm also a fan of testing my characters--it adds a little something to my understanding of them, I find. It's also interesting to find congruencies, and it tests my knowledge of them.
I also think it could be valuable to us to pay attention to which of others' characters are which types.
Yeah... I know I have some responses to write... but this is fun. :P
Here's the
Myers-Briggs personality test--quite well-respected and very interesting.
Basic rundown: There are four categories. In each, you're one or the other (no one is both, though you can be very close to the borderline). The categories are: E/I, N/S, T/F, P/J.
E/I: If you're an E, you're extraverted: you get your energy from being around others. If you're an I, you're introverted: you need to be alone to recharge.
N/S: If you're an N, you're intuitive: you tend to be more theoretical than practical and to free-associate a lot. If you're an S, you're 'sensing,': you tend to be practical and concrete, and notice detail (think Sherlock Holmes).
T/F: If you're a T, you're 'thinking': you make decisions based on your brain, not your gut. If you're an F, you're 'feeling': you make decisions based on your gut.
P/J: If you're a P, you're a 'perceiver' (I think a better word would be 'procrastinator'!): you like to leave things open-ended, you tend to be messy in work habits, and you hate decision-making. If you're a J, you're a 'judger': you don't feel right if things are left 'up in the air,' you like to plan, and you tend to be neat in personal and work habits.
I'm an
ENTP.
Here is another description of ENTPs.
King Aedan is an
ISTP.
Iņaki is an
ISFP.
Izotz is an
ESTJ.
Conn Farraday is an
ENTP. Big surprise there. No wonder I like to play him. I need more types similar to me; I prefer playing them, as it's easier for me to get into that mindset.
Lieutenant Tremaine is an
ESFJ. I'm awesome--I guessed that ahead of time.
Maite is an
ESFP. I predicted correctly, but of course, that says very little, and might even have skewed my answers. :P Still!
I'll finish taking this for my other characters later. I have to write replies now or the guilt will consume me.
But yeah--feel free to take this test, discuss your character personalities, etc. I use personality types as a tool in my IRL writing all the time, and it's incredibly useful.
