Physical Description (five sentence minimum): Eguntsenti stands at a tall 6’2” which can lead him to be quite intimidating amongst those who are not familiar with his gentle nature. He is not overly muscular but instead he is slim and quick to move. At one time he was considered one of the fastest runners in the tribe before he got into a fight with a Thiasan, in which his left knee got damaged. He now walks with a slight limp and he is commonly seen with his bronze tipped spear which he uses as a walking stick as well as a weapon. Despite his limp, he still walks with a striding grace with smooth movements. Eguntsenti has straight black hair which he doesn’t mess with that reaches past his shoulders, just letting it grow naturally without interference. He wears a wooden carving of a butterfly tied around his neck by a string. A sense of calm and peace is always seen on Eguntsenti’s face even when fighting; his face is clean and shaped smoothly.
Personality (eight sentence minimum): Eguntsenti’s spirit is the butterfly, which reflects his gentle and peaceful nature. He always seems to have a kind look on his face and he is great for a pleasant conversation. In theory Eguntsenti could be a pacifist, but not in practice. He would like to believe that war could be avoided and all the Baskari and Thiasan people could live in peace with each other. With the way events are unfolding, pacifism would cause nothing but more death not only for his people, but for everyone.
Friendship is very important to Eguntsenti and he considers all people brothers and sisters, though siblings tend to quarrel. He loves to be of assistance and when not off in combat or lost in his own thoughts, Eguntsenti has been known to help with chores and go around the tribe helping with odd jobs and expecting nothing in return.
Eguntsenti has what he considers an inner balance of emotions and wisdom. Despite having less life experience than the elders, he has wisdom beyond his age. He will often just meditate on nature and the spirits around him which he believes will help maintain his inner balance. One thing he avoids is romantic relationships, as he believes that getting romantically involved with another will disrupt his balance due to all of the strife and tribulations that are faced in those types of relationships.
Despite his love for peace, Eguntsenti is a warrior and a ferocious one at that when he must be. Like the butterfly that kills wasps to protect their territory, he is a skilled fighter even with his limped leg. He sees fighting as a last resort and would rather reach negotiations peacefully. At heart Eguntsenti is a diplomat rather than a warrior.
Believing that despite origin, all people Baskari and Thiasan, should learn to live together in harmony and support each other. He is aware that in the long run this is nothing more than a fantasy that would never actually happen, Eguntsenti is willing to risk his life in order to promote such an ideal.
History (ten sentence minimum):
Eguntsenti is the only child of Igon and Alazne, the former of which is a successful warrior and the latter was a shamaness. While Eguntsenti was being born there were complications and shortly after the successful birth, Alazne died from excessive blood loss. Igon never took another wife, so Eguntsenti was raised by his father alone and left with women in the village during his childhood while his father was away.
Eguntsenti’s childhood was mostly spent amongst the tribe’s females as his father was constantly away. He seemed to pick up the female’s more peaceful and relaxed nature than the constant fighting nature of the males.
Like all Ekaini, Eguntsenti went on his spirit quest at the age of thirteen. Through many days of fasting and prayer his spirit came to him in the form of a butterfly. Upon returning to the tribe he was mocked for having such a spirit, which most saw as female. Eguntsenti knew better than this as the butterfly represented an inner balance and peace that he must strive to maintain.
As he grew older Eguntsenti became a warrior, but also he became a promoter of peace. He is completely open with all of his beliefs and philosophies on peace and brotherhood despite origin, which lead to some of the tribe to describe his ideas as radical and not possible.
When Eguntsenti was eighteen he got into his first large fight, which was against a Thiasan knight. He tried to talk to the pale skinned man, but he refused to listen to reason. The fight went on for a while when the knight pulled a cheap tactics and hit the butt end of his bastard sword and smashed Eguntsenti’s left knee. This attack forced him to the ground, but also left an opening on the knight, which Eguntsenti took advantage of by piercing him in the heart with his spear.
He spent the next few weeks healing from his injury, but the limp remained. Despite the permanent scar Eguntsenti still fought as a warrior just as hard as he did when his knee wasn’t damaged.
Plot Potential: Eguntsenti seems to have an inner conflict between wanting to avoid war and go about using peaceful negotiations. Despite his want for peace, if war comes he will fight with all of his ability. Relationship wise, Eguntsenti is willing to form friendships with anyone despite their background; though, romantic relationships are virtually impossible. He holds no prejudice against the Zerui or Thiasan people, so he would try to promote diplomatic solutions.
SAMPLE RP (with this character only):
Eguntsenti was not one to usually harbor negative thoughts on his fellow humans, but he sadly felt glad that he had pierced the heart of that Thiasan knight. Now, he was stuck in his cot barely able to move due to the heavy injury he took to the left knee, which broke in multiple places. The tribe’s healers came in and out almost endlessly with remedies and water, as he was starting to get dehydrated as well.
He needed to calm himself down, so he took in a deep breath and slowly let it out. Eguntsenti meditated on the event that had pasted trying to find what he could learn from such an experience.
The knight was wearing their strange metal armor, which most deflected most of his attacks with the exception of his final one, a pierce. Maybe that piercing and stabbing was a weakness in their armor, but it’s hard to tell from just one fight. The knight had obviously no intentions for a peaceful agreement and he was willing to use tactics that wear underhanded.
Another thought came to him, what would his tribe think of this? It is possible that they might try to retaliate, which Eguntsenti would have little chance to speak with his people due to the injury. He needed to make sure that a small amount of peace could be maintained, even if war broke out soon; the Ekaini should not be the ones to start it.
Looking to his left, Eguntsenti saw his spear leaning against the cot. Reaching out he grabbed his spear. Lifting himself slightly upwards, he rolled himself onto the floor, hitting his bad knee in the process; he held back a yell of pain. He knew that he would not be able to walk, so Eguntsenti crawled.
Grabbing the ground as he went, Eguntsenti made his way outside inch by inch. The pain was incredible, but he tried his best to ignore it. He just continued to crawl until he could make out some of the others onto the tribe. And, using his spear as another leg, he attempted to lift himself up; at first just falling back down. After another try, though, he was able to get a footing. The preacher of peace spoke out, “Do not blame the Thiasan for they do not know better. This was but the doings of a single man, not all of them.”
After his short speech he fell onto the ground unconscious.
