Title: Warlord Ekain sem'Edur

Warlord Ekain sem'Edur - March 9, 2008 01:38 AM (GMT)
Character Name: Ekain sem'Edur

Canon/Original: Canon, cuz Sam begged me to.

Gender: Male

Age: 26

Family: Son of Edur (father, deceased) and Argi (mother, deceased). Siblings Nekane (sister), Ederne (sister, 19) and Endika (brother, 17)

Spirit:: Horse

Occupation: Warlord of the Ekaini people

Place of Habitation: da'Ekain, clearly.

Physical Description: As is befitting a Warlord, Ekaine is in no less than peak physical shape. His darkly tanned skin covers a body comprised almost completely of rippling muscles. His form is large and imposing, he standing at about six foot three with broad shoulders and a thick neck. His two hundred twenty pounds are almost completely muscle, with barely an ounce of fat on his body. His long, straight black hair falls to his shoulders, and his dark, liquid brown eyes seem to glow with a fire unmatched. He chest and arms bear many scars from the conflict with the Zerui and the foreigners both, but each one, to him, is a trial he survived only to become stronger.

Personality: As is necessary for his station, Ekaine is very much a no-nonsense kind of man. He takes the safety and security of his people very seriously, and he is alight with rage at the strangers that invaded their land and tried to drive them into subservience for no apparent reason other then greed. He seems harsh and hard to the those who do not know him personally, but that is so he may seem strong for his people. Behind the flap of his longhouse he is a warm and caring man. He cares for each and every member of his people and his family, his wives and children especially, and is frequently filled with doubts because of the plague of strangers that have come. Secretly, he wonders if the spirits are punishing his people for some unjust act they committed, and seeks to determine what it might have been, hoping that if it is righted, perhaps the strangers would see the err of their ways and depart. If not, Ekain would even be willing to live in harmony with he strangers, but they seemed to be willing to hear none of that, which is a concept that boggles the Warlord's mind, their merciless style infuriating to the normally emotionally well-balanced Warlord, because of what it means for his people.

History: Ekain is the first and eldest of Edur's children. Born to his second wife, Argi, he was large even coming from the womb. It was clear he was to be a good leader, as his eyes were clear and his body strong. Even his cry, as he was brought into the world, was strong, which indicated good lungs. Prospects were bright from the young heir, and he did not let them down. From childhood he was trained how to hunt, how to fight, how to think, and how to rule from his father, Edur. So much so that many of Ekain's siblings were slightly jealous of the attention he garnered, but understood, as Ekain was to rule as Warlord. Though he was quite talented with a bow, he was unmatched with an axe, his physical strength and size combined with his father's superior training made him one of the best warriors in all the Eduri lands.

Very quickly he displayed his talent for leadership. Even before his Spirit Quest he was assisting villagers by negotiating squabbles. He was very quickly a beloved man among his people, and his honorable and fair nature made him adored by many. When he departed for his Spirit Quest, it was no surprise when he returned with a truth that everyone, publicly or privately, expected of him: his was the Horse.

Afterwards he fought heroically in many of the greatest battles with the Zerui, quickly becoming one of their most feared warriors on the battlefield. He was not without his own share of wounds, however. One left a gash on his chest, running from his right shoulder to his left hip. He almost died from that, and oftentimes, when he is behind closed doors and feeling frustrated or nervous, he might finger that scar subconsciously as his mind is lost in thought.

In the last battle that was the crescendo of the tribal war, his own father had been lost. For quite some time Ekain had been a force for peace, but the stubborn man that Edur was, he refused to listen. When Edur was split in twain in the last battle, Ekain took the title as Warlord, and immediately sued for peace. He did not fear battle, but he did hate to see so much blood poured onto the lands out of spite. He was instrumental in negotiating the cincture with Zeru, and now that peace had been found, they could turn their attentions to the invaders that had arrived and pushed them back while the Eduri--now named the Ekaini--and the Zerui had been fighting.

Now that peace has been found, he is turning his attention to the interlopers, furious now more so then any could imagine that his sister--and, unknown to the invading king, also his wife--had been taken from him...something that inspired the Warlord's anger like no other, for his sister-wife was someone special to him...his first love, even as a child.

Plot Potential: Find more wives, properly manage his current marriages, reclaim his sister-wife who's been captured, lead his people--to war, if necessary--find a way to rid the isle of the interlopers while maintaining peace with the Zerui....the list goes on, considering he's pretty vital for just about every single major possible plotline in the entire game, especially if it involves the Ekaini.

SAMPLE RP: From my character Maggie Red on Sapphire Court:

QUOTE
The king before her was almost completely disrobed but for his breeches, but even still she'd never thought she'd see him naked.  Though inebriated and seemingly wistful, Maggie had been pulled to the King's presence, it seemed, so that he could have someone to talk to, at least for now.  When he ordered her to meet his eyes, she was hesitant at first, but eventually her startlingly emerald eyes rose to meet his shocking sapphirical ones, the precious gems acting as windows into each other's souls.  What she found within frightened her, but not because of him and what he was capable of...but to see such remorse.

She sat when ordered, taking a seat directly across from him.  She leaned to her left, the arm on the armrest, and tucked her legs up underneath her so that she was a strange mix of laying sideways and sitting with her feet curled under her.  Awkward for some, but her natural flexibility and comfort with her own body made it startlingly easy.  As he spoke she said nothing at first, letting him say his peace...and yet peace seemed to be eluding him at the moment.  Perhaps it was the wine, perhaps it was his past, but something was clearly getting to him.  She was trained in all manner of uses as a slave.  Being a confidante was not so unusual, and it was for that very reason, because of how quickly and easily she'd learned the trade, that even advanced skills like an element of psychology, was also taught to her, if only to make a better companion should the need arise.

"Begging Your Majesty's pardon...but I would dare to say you would not be the first nor last within the nobles of Adesia to have killed.  Commanding death, amongst other lesser evils, is a necessary part of leadership.  For some, without fear of consequence there is no motivation to follow orders.  Anarchy would ensue, and civilization would collapse.  Slaves understand this fact better then most, for it directly applies to the Master-slave dichotomy, but it is still a fundamental truth of society as a whole."  A slave, yes, but she was far from stupid.  Indeed, had her potential been realized she could have been one of the great scholars of the age.  To have come to such an understanding based solely on experience and second-hand learning, and an application of her own intellect should shine a small nugget on the truth behind her potential.  Perhaps she was a worthy slave for the Adesian King after all.

"As someone who, admittedly, has a somewhat more open view of life and love then most of those that are Catholic or Protestant, I fully believe that we are capable of loving more then one person.  In that same vein, I believe that there are other women who could love you.  Not just for your power or influence, but you, for who you are."  Saying all that she was could easily qualify as a huge risk, but one of the things she'd learned about subtle body language to read was that when a Master asked his slave to meet his eyes, odds were high that in those moments he wanted to talk not Master to slave, but person to person.  She was nervous and wished to please him, and in that moment it seemed that simply saying 'As you say, Your Majesty' would not supplicate him; that it might in fact anger him.  She felt that being open and honest with her thoughts was what he wished, so she did her best to please him, this time on an intellectual and emotional level.

"In that way, Your Majesty, I believe there is still someone out there for you."

What's the name of the Creator God the Ekaini worship?: [[got the right answer... eventually ;) Was thinking too hard on the answer, thinking it was more difficult then it was.]]

Again, really good app. Just add in the 'Plot Potential' section of the app, and I'd say you're set. You've got a few clumsy sentences, but that's more of a stylistic concern than anything else. Your metaphors are interesting, but, say, this one doesn't seem complete.

"his dark, liquid brown eyes seem to glow with a fire unmatched." Unmatched by what? Just a little clumsy, but again, this isn't prevalent. Besides, your RP is very good. So you're accepted, as far as I'm concerned. Good job so far, etc.
