Q: What should I do if I decide to join?

A: First, you should click the Register link underneath the advertisement on the top of the site. Then, fill out all the info with the correct corresponding information. Your username should be the name of the character you're planning on using. Then, hit Submit and you will automatically be registered and logged in.

Q: I've just joined, now what?

A: Firstly, if you haven't already read the rules, that would be a good place to start. If you already have read them, it might be a good idea to go back and just skim through to make sure you know what's going on. Then, you should probably look at some of the Accepted Bios and the Sample Bio to get a jist as to how to make your character. Then, copy and paste the bio format into a new topic in the Character Bios forum and create your character.

Q: I don't understand something, what should I do?

A: The first thing to do would be to look around similar topics to see if your question has already been answered. Do not instantaneously PM or E-Mail a staff member if you come to a dilemma. Don't be lazy and look around for an answer. If after a while you don't think your question is answered, try posting in the Questions forum under Support Center. Otherwise, then you'll have permission to contact a staff member.

Q: I was warned for merely posting, why?

A: There are many reasons someone could get warned for posting. Check the rules for all of them. The most frequent reasons are either because you posted outside the First Look category without your character being accepted, you posted a malignant message toward another member and/or the site, or you have complained continuously about the wait for some things to happen. Please, read the rules and make sure that you do not break any.

Q: Why is it taking so long for my character to be accepted?

A: Character Acception isn't as easy as some might think. There are quite a few reasons that characters aren't accepted quickly. The most recurring reason is because a staff member told them to elaborate on something or explain something a little more, but the character will only add a sentence or two that have barely anything to do with it. If a staffer asks a member to touch up something, a sentence or two is all that's needed. But if a staffer asks you to elaborate or go into detail, a couple sentences most likely won't do it. Follow the instruction and it will result in quicker bio acception.

Another main reason that bios aren't accepted that fast are because they're not done correctly. If you decide to do whatever you want and expect to be accepted, then you're not going to get anywhere on the site. And complaining about it will do you no better either. Follow what you need to follow and do it right and we'll look at it as soon as we can. But, if you're just going to be lazy and not look at the rules or just blatantly ignore them, then the staff doesn't have to reply to your bio if they don't want to.

Q: How does my character age, if even?

A: There are four ways a character can age:

1. You can age your character with the RPG Date between the Welcome Box and the Member Color Codes.

2. You can age your character once every year in real life.

3. You don't have to age your character.

4. You can get staff permission to age a character a certain amount of years.

Q: Why are we restricted to only certain starting items?

A: This is one of the most frequest questions we're asked. It's there, however, for a great reason. If we allowed an unlimited amount of weapons and any type / amount of ships, then not only will the RPG become severely unrealistic, but the character with said arsenal will be practically undefeatable. While we want to keep the RPG as fun as possible, we also need to make sure it's as realistic and fair for everyone as can be.

Plus, if you stick around long enough and roleplay a lot, then you'll eventually get enough money to build up your arsenal and get a better ship, perhaps making you extremely powerful, yet in a realistic and fair way. You don't just "get" everything in life, you have to earn it. You have to
prove that you're the best.

Q: What's the deal on post lengths?

A: There is no strict requirement as to how much you should put in each post. We highly recommend and encourage you to post at the bare minimum, fifty words. The deal is that the more effort you put into your posts, the more fun and easy you are to roleplay with. And we are all about having fun here.

Q: I can't think of anything to make my post longer! Help me Obi-wan!

A: Ok, sorry for my Obi-wan comment. Won't happen again (maybe). But, seriously, you can ALWAYS make your posts longer. Describe what's going on around you. Is the wind blowing? Does something smell funny? Is there an itch somewhere that'd be impolite to scratch? What are you wearing? What are they wearing? What are you thinking? What do you think they're thinking? What's your reaction to that? Are you tired? Awake? Sleepy? Drunk? Stoned? About to die? The list goes on and on.

Really, NEVER come to me and tell me there's nothing more to add. I'll just refer you to here and put you on my black list. You don't wanna be on my black list, trust me.

Q: How is the decision made whether I kill someone or not?

A: That's decided by the staff here at TOR. It all depends on how good your posts were, how good your opponent's posts were, both of your character's experience (Without a great deal of luck, a Jedi Padawan is not going to kill a Sith Lord), and the like. It may take a while to decide, but rest assured, the decision will be made with the utmost caution, and we'll only kill people if it's earned.

Q: Ok, so I'm dead. Now what?

A: Not to worry, you're not finished yet. Lucky for you, when you die, you automatically have a clone to take your place. If you have a bank account, the cloning is free. If not, then it only costs 100 credits. You may have lost some items, but get back to roleplaying so you can get them back!

Q: Ok, so I killed my opponent. What now?

A: Well, now you can take just about whatever you want off their bodies. Well, not whatever you want, but any bought items, and some of the money. Be sure to leave them enough money to get cloned, however. And from there... well, now you're gonna have someone who's eager for revenge stalking your every move, and some extra gear. Congrats!

Q: Ok, so now how do I buy things?

A: Simple. Goto the store you wanna buy something from, post in it that you're buying that item. An admin will be along shortly to adjust your money and give you the ((Transaction Complete)) sign, or something similar. From there, you're good to go. Congrats!

Q: Now how do I sell this stuff?

A: Goto the Holonet and make a topic saying "Sale!" or whatever else you want it to say, doesn't matter really. From there, wait until someone buys the item, then you can PM an admin and the transaction will be completed.

Q: So, what are these [MS] things I'm seeing everywhere?

A: They're Main Storylines (hence the MS). They are all part of the big plotline that drives this forum. There's usually one going on all the time, and you can joinin whenever you want. Trust me, they're fun. Just try and be relevant, and don't be stupid and make two liners here. I'll be the first to bitch you out. These are supposed to be fairly serious, and I'm expecting good posts out of everyone who participates in one.

On that note as well, you can make [SP]s (subplots) that tell are for character developement. You can either make them private, or open to only certain people, or even open to everyone. You control these, and they're intended to help your character advance into what you want them to be.

Q: Can I make my own faction?

A: Considering there would be many useless and inactive factions if we just let anyone create their own faction, there are some guidelines that you must follow. You must first get official word from an Admin (not a Co-Admin or SMod) that the faction is okay to build, and you must give them any info they ask for. If approved, you must gain a minumum of seven total members and make out a list about your faction identical to those in the Group Descriptions subforum underneath the Site Info forum in the First Look category. Only then can your faction become official and be added as a color.

Keep in mind, however, that just because all of the above occurs, you still might not make the faction official. If the staff believes that the group is unneeded at that time, you probably won't get it official. Don't let that fool you, however. You can still make your own factions at anytime, they just won't be official. If, however, that gets out of hand, we will have to make all faction creation be staff approved.

Q: How many places can I roleplay in at once?

A: Members are allowed to roleplay in as many normal topics and Sub-Plot topics as they so please. However, you are only allowed to roleplay in one Main Storyline topic at a time (should there be more than one) UNLESS the Main Storyline topic says otherwise.

Q: I can't think of anything else to add to my bio!

A: There's a sample bio HERE. Check it out, and get ideas from that. Otherwise, just think of everything. Personality and History seem to be a big problem here, so just think about it.

For history, you can tell us what you character did when he/she was little, how they went through training, where they went through training, how they were recruited, why they joined the faction they did, what the did before they joined it, etc.

For personality, explain why your character acts the way they do. Also, are they evil? Good? Do they like fights or not? Do they like women or men, or possibly both? Are they good fighters? Do they like cards? A good drink? Do they hunger for companionship, or are they loners? You could go on forever. If you need any extra help, look at yourself and describe some of your own characteristics.

Q: What are all the factions?

A: Above all the forums is a section titled "Member Color Codes". That lists all the official factions currently available to join, with links to bases if they have one. If you need anything else, PM one of the faction leaders. They'll help ya out there.
