The workhorse of the Rebel fleet, the Y-Wing's current incarnation is a heavily-armed and heavily-armored juggernaut. Albeit slow-moving, this vessel is modular and easy to pilot. It fills its role as an assault bomber far better than just about any other craft its size in blowing up slow-moving targets.
The two ion engines forming the prongs of the 'Y' provide mediocre propulsion with the maneuverability of a truck. However, it does pack a powerful hyperdrive engine, although the Y-Wing requires an R5 unit to make a hyperspace jump.
The lasers and concussion missiles are mounted on the nose of the detachable cockpit module. The gunner controls the ion turret mounted atop the cockpit module and the proton bomb launcher on the underbelly of the craft.
