Dirt cheap and priced well, the TIE Fighter is the sorriest excuse for a snubfighter since the Wright Brothers. Its only saving grace is halfway decent maneuverability - but even the X-Wing can match it in even that realm. The TIE is recommended for only those who are incredibly stupid, incredibly brave, or incredibly strapped for cash. Even then, a pilot's probably better off getting an Interceptor. The Fighter's only saving grace is that, unlike just about every other Imperial vehicle, it can be customized readily. Not that there's much to work with.
