One of the big bruisers of the Old Republic, the Victory-class Star Destroyer is the direct predecessor to the Imperial-class Star Destroyer, despite the fact that it was created by a rival company. In general, the Victory Star Destroyer is considered second only to the Imperial Star Destroyer within the Imperial Navy, and many were produced by both the Old Republic and the Galactic Empire before the complete production of the Imperial Star Destroyer came into full swing. After the introduction of the Imperial Star Destroyer the Victory Star Destroyer was sold in large numbers to other groups, with the Corporate Sector Authority purchasing 520 of them and other groups also buying them, so the VicStar is prolific throughout the universe.
The VicStar has excellent shielding and armour, and a very powerful array of weapons, with a total of 120 turbolasers and some 320 concussion missiles. The VicStar is often seen in planetary defense roles, but is known to have some disadvantages. For instance, its three ion engines are outdated and provide a meagre amount of thrust, making it sluggish and overall quite unwieldy. However, it has the honour of being one of the biggest vessels capable of operating within a planetary atmosphere. The VicStar is often modified by its owners for various reasons, and there is a subclass known as the Victory II that improves the VicStar overall.
