This relatively large corvette was often used by the Imperials as Customs ships, creating a security border around sensitive planets. With a large splayed rear section and a small control/command superstructure, the Light Corvette had two large mandibles extending in front of the command superstructure and these mandibles make up most of the front section, being roughly eighty meters long, with a gap about forty meters wide between them. This is important, as the Light Customs Corvette is able to bring ships in with the tractor beam and dock them between the mandibles, for boarding and holding purposes.

The corvette is quite fast, designed to chase down starfighters and speedy illicit freighters trying to take materials into and out of a system, and has a relatively good degree of manoeuvrability. However, it has rather poor shields, so any commander of a Light must be aware of this. There are six pairs of turbolasers mounted around the ship, with two being forward-port, two forward-starboard, a single pair aft dorsal and the final pair aft ventral, able to swing in a 360 degree arc.
