A thoroughly outdated design, the Rendili Dreadnaught has been in production since at least 100 BBY. It is a large ship and was once considered a large and powerful cruiser, but since the events leading up to the Clone Wars and the massive expansion of capital ship power, the Dreadnaught has been relegated back to a role as heavy frigate. The Dreadnaught features a large clamshell prow and a vaguely cylindrical main hull, leading back to the ancient engines. Though it used to be the most powerful ship around, the Dreadnaught has been left in the dust by its newer competitors, with low shield power, insufficient weapon numbers and output, frequent computer crashes, low sublight speed and a rather lackluster hyperspace speed for a military vessel, not to mention its horrendously large crew requirements.

However, due to their popularity back when they were first produced, Rendili Dreadnaughts are abundant and can be found in many of the lower-importance fleets of the Galactic Empire. The Alliance also used Dreadnaughts, although it modified them extensively into Assault Frigates beforehand. Due to its age, the Dreadnaught has many upgrades and common modification setups available to it, such as a complete weapon refit and a complete hyperdrive refit, which were both common in Imperial Dreadnaughts, as well as the addition of slave-circuit rigging to reduce crew numbers and the addition of warhead launchers to combat starfighters.

The Dreadnaught has six quad lasers on the bow, with another seven on both the port and starboard sides, and five laser cannons are also located on the port and starboard sides. There are also five turbolasers to be found at the bow of the ship, and the stern. There is a small hangar within the Dreadnaught that contains 2 shuttles for transporting officials to other ships and for planetary landings and the like.
