The YT-1930 was released just prior to the Battle of Yavin and is regarded by many as the pinnacle of the YT series, though it never gained the popularity of the YT-1300. It looks very similar to the YT-1300, but the cockpit has been realigned to sit in between and just above the cargo mandibles, while there are two large wedge-shaped sections at the rear those grants the YT-1930 double the cargo space of the YT-1300.

The YT-1930 is refined and honed into what can be considered almost the perfect light cargo freighter, possessing suitable armour and shielding to protect it from attackers, a quad laser cannon as a standard feature, excellent maneuverability for a freighter, a very solid top speed, both sublight and in hyperspace, and the aforementioned rather high cargo capacity. Also warranting a mention is the adaptability of the ship, proving to be about equal with the YT-1300 in terms of how easily modifiable it is.

The YT-1300 has an extended life support system and enough small bunks to comfortably transport six passengers, plus the pilot and co-pilot. It also has the added security of twin escape pods that are each capable of fitting and sustaining five people in an emergency. All in all, the YT-1930 is a very solid freighter, surpassing most others of its size with ease.
