The V-19 Torrent was a space superiority fighter designed and used heavily during the Clone Wars, especially in the later stages. Twin sets of folding aerofoils granted increased manoeuvrability and provided pilots with easy access to the ship's sliding canopy. The lower split airfoils coupled with enhanced repulsorlift engines made the ship an exceptional VTOL fighter. It continues to be produced in reduced numbers for Imperial sectors that are low on resources and who don’t have the manpower to throw away with TIE Fighters.

The V-19 is swift, being just slightly slower than a TIE Interceptor, and it has a good level of firepower, with a laser cannon being mounted at the end of each of the two aerofoils, and a concussion missile launcher to either side of the cockpit. During the war, the V-19 Torrents used advanced ‘fire and forget’ missiles that independently locked onto and chased down enemy targets, but normal concussion missiles can be used just as easily.
