Title: Latency issues for Starcraft
originbbtk - May 23, 2008 02:32 AM (GMT)
Aight so I have a linksys wireless adapter in my sony vaio and have a good connection with 54 mb. I dont have problems with lag or anything when playing a game but I cant have people joining my hosted games which is a pain cause some of my clan members wants me to make a game and I cant because of the latency.
I tried opening up ports in my windows firewall and the linksys website but the games hardly allow people to join.
Any suggestions?

With my experience with servers you usually always lag if you host a non dedicated server and play in it yourself. But I don't know xD, Ive only played SWBF2 with servers not anything else.

Is your NAT Closed or Open?

NAT? Meaning UDP and TCP? Then yes.
UDP and TCP 6112 is open.

Wireless Is ALWAYS Bad For Hosting, You Could Drop People In A Heartbeat. All It Takes Is A Hiccup And Their Gone, And The Latency Likes To Jump Around On Wireless, So The Games May Not Allow People To Join For One Reason Or Another, My Suggestion Is Try It Hardlined And See If It Has The Same Problem, If It Doesnt Then Your Wireless Internet Doesnt Have Enough Bandwith Or Steady Connection To Keep People Or Allow People Into The Game, If It DOES Do The Same Thing, Then You Might Not Have Al The Right Ports Shared Or Your Service Provider Tries To Disallow Hosting Of Any Games

I found the problem. When I set the ip address to open ports, I put a 5 at the end of my ip instead of a 3. Now it works perfectly. Lol stupid me...
