Title: The J-Rock Discussion Thread
Description: Just FYI, J-Rock = Japanese Rock

Lelouch Lamperouge - April 26, 2008 05:25 AM (GMT)
For those of you who listen to J-Rock, what are your favorite artist, and what songs would you recommend?

My favorites would have to be L'Arc~en~Ciel, B'z, abingdon boys school (T.M.Revolution in a rock band = win ^^), X Japan, Dir en grey, ELLEGARDEN, Janne Da Arc (they're on hiatus though =/) and Acid Black Cherry (solo project of Yasu from JDA). There's more but I think I should stop there

Recommendations:
HOWLING - abingdon boys school
INNOCENT SORROW - abingdon boys school
Black Cherry - Acid Black Cherry
Spell Magic - Acid Black Cherry
Shoudou - B'z
SUPER LOVE SONG - B'z
Salamander - ELLEGARDEN
Space Sonic - ELLEGARDEN
DRINK IT DOWN - L'Arc~en~Ciel
Daybreak's Bell - L'Arc~en~Ciel
Art of Life - X Japan
Kurenai - X Japan
I.V. - X Japan

@_@ I feel ashamed of myself for not knowing at least two of the artists listed on there, Lulu-kun; ELLEGARDEN and B'z~

I would really suggest people to give a listen to some of JIn's stuff. Acid is fine too, as is MUCC; I don't really have favourites out of their songs~ ; ;

Lelouch Lamperouge - April 26, 2008 06:25 AM (GMT)
ELLEGARDEN haven't produced anything for about 2 years now, so that's forgivable ^^. But B'z is literally one of the best selling J-Rock bands in Japan (I think they sell more singles/albums than even L'Arc) you know o_O.

The only song I've heard from Jinn is Kaidoku Funou (aka 2nd OP of Code Geass xD). And I've never heard anything from Acid =/. Speaking of Acid, I totally forgot to mention Acid Black Cherry (solo project of Yasu from Janne Da Arc) -.-. I somehow like their songs better than JDA songs ^-^;;

Aki-chan - April 26, 2008 06:32 AM (GMT)
I think ACID did some stuff for Tokyo Majin.

Kuroi Inu - April 26, 2008 02:12 PM (GMT)
Abigdon boys school did the opening for D. Grayman its a nice Anime

RHX - April 26, 2008 04:56 PM (GMT)
I will have to check it out.

What's the heavier J-rock stuff? I like Dir En Grey and X-Japan, so who are the similar artists?

Lelouch Lamperouge - April 27, 2008 02:31 AM (GMT)
Not sure about similar artists, but some of the heavier J-Rock bands I know of include: D'espairsRay, girugamesh, the GazettE, Rentrer en soi and UnsraW.

Fubuki Tenjyoin - April 27, 2008 02:39 AM (GMT)
Never heard of them.

Aki-chan - April 27, 2008 10:39 AM (GMT)
The only one I can honestly say I've heard of among those ones is "The GazettE"

Kyoko Hikari - April 28, 2008 02:51 AM (GMT)

RHX - April 30, 2008 04:42 AM (GMT)
Wahoo! X Japan is coming to NY on September 13th. I think I will drive up and see them. It should be amazing.

Lelouch Lamperouge - April 30, 2008 02:02 PM (GMT)
Nice ;) I'm also looking forward to watching the Hide Memorial Concert (even though I can't travel to Japan during that period >_>), mainly because of the awesome artist lineup

RHX - April 30, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)
Yea def!

Xenneth Hikari - April 30, 2008 08:04 PM (GMT)
The best song I'm listening to right now...happens to be J-Rock.

"Che-Buru" - Kelun

It's actually the song that's playing to the Avy I have. I ripped the scene from the AMV Opening.

Lelouch Lamperouge - May 21, 2008 12:30 PM (GMT)
IIRC, that's also the 8th Bleach OP. It's an OK song, but I personally still prefer Ichirin no Hana, Rolling Star, ALONES and After Dark ^^;. Kelun's vocalist is decent, but there are still better vocalists out there (eg. hyde, Nishikawa Takanori, Yasu, and Gackt just to name a few of the more famous ones).
