Title: Q in the program
Description: questions for advanced creators

mightytrog - August 29, 2006 05:52 PM (GMT)
hey i have a few questions for either the poeple who created the program...or any
advanced creator who really knows how to use the program to the fullest. I am fairly new at this, i have easily learned how to make the commands for the program which is great...but i have a few things i have wanted to do, but i am not sure if they CAN be done, or at least How...

the first is...is there a way I can make a multi party battle such as the final fantasy games...and actually have the otehr characters level up?

the second is, if not that is there a way i could do basically the same thing, but more similar to the old shining force games that were on sega gen.

another, is how could i make it so when the player reaches a certain level, could i set it to trigger a scene where they could be upgraded like change appearance and class...i know i can change the appearance, its just the level trigger that i am not sure about.

and the last is...i have downloaded some other poeples games....and i have seen special battles where they have the player fighting a sprite character, say an npc...instead of a critter or boss, then i went to the editing section to find out how they made it, and i just saw the battle screen of it instead of a page in the script, this has made no sense and i would really like to make these types of battles, but i have no idea how to go about this

well thats all my questions, if anyone who knows the answers could please let me know i would greatly appreciate it, thanks for your time.

I'll leave the tricky parts to the creator and other adepts...

But, this RPGMaker is a single player battle system. You can make it so that you have a party in cutscenes, and switch the appearance so each party member can get a turn at battling, but only one set of stats exist.

You can alter the experience, HP, speed, luck, strength, weapon, armour, amount of runestones (did I miss anything?) per character with the sprite messenger icons.

Regrettably I haven't played Shining Force, so currently I don't know. But the biggest strength of the stats in Scenario RPGMaker has to be the option to alter the experience alongside the other attributes. You can add, subtract, or set to a new value. The way I can think of is to keep track of roughly how strong you want your character to be, then simply change it in time, like when Rydia from FF4 returns to your party, she's stronger by a few levels. (simply add to the character's experience) But experimentation is required.

As far as I know, there is no way to use the experience stat in an <inquiry> (David, others, am I wrong??) but the experienced is a fixed table for levels. It wouldn't be toooo difficult to discover how much experience is required for advancing to the next level (albeit a little time consuming). I may do it one day unless someone off-by-heart knows the experience growth table.

Finally, the special boss battles can be edited when you create a new page. If you bring up the menu [ESC] while editing a page, you can select the page type, critter or normal(page), once you select critter, and where you want the page to appear on the screen, then the options for battle will be presented for you.
You can delete a critter page just like you can delete a normal page.

Hope that helps, good to hear from you. And welcome.
