I found this link on Steve Bodios Blog, thought I put it up here, I know it's a sensitive issue for many, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Sickening in my view...

I read that when it went up on the Querencia blog. To be honest, I've can't really resolve my feelings on it. This is quite different than the dog fighting in the US. Even illegal fighting in the US is now a different thing than a 'traditional' dog fight. These Asian fights seem to be more of a test than an actual fight to death or severe injury. My Disneyfied sentimental core says "ewwww" but ten years ago it said the same thing about having dogs that would run a small fuzzy animal down and kill it.

I find myself being pulled both ways, I can see that it would a way of testing shepherd guarding dogs, as a they must have it in them to kill wolves and feral dogs in the line of their work.

My attachment to my dogs as close companions, living in our home with us makes me struggle to see these suffering as they during the fight.

Again on the other hand there is the western breeding of mastiff types with horrendous exaggerations which cause massive amounts of prolonged suffering.

I believe Taigans are also used in dog fights, probably to ensure that only the most capable are bred from?
