Title: Salukis and snow
Al Sarab - December 11, 2006 12:50 PM (GMT)
Our salukis do like running free in deep, clean and dry snow very much!
But as you can see in the picture there are also some problems - especially in warm or wet weather...

Great photo's, I love to see them in the snow!
Tariq has trouble with the snow between his toes too, Ameerah has less toe fuzzies so tends to ok.

I wish they would stand still for a few seconds!

^ Wonderful pictures - and hounds! Open fields, ice and snow and happy salukis running free are the most beautiful things you can see...

Try spraying cooking oil on the bottoms of their feet before heading out. We usually have about 4 feet of snow on the ground before winter is over.

Yes, snow is like an open book - you can read a lot of things in it!

Great! The white ferret is beautiful. Thank you :) ! It's a hard work with these animals, too - they are eating pellets as food, I guess - and the salukis do'nt hunt the ferrets... B)
Saluki - January 16, 2007 06:23 PM (GMT)
No they are fairly easy to look after, you must handle them well from young though. I feed mine rabbits, etc. You can buy dry (pellet) complete food very like complete cat or dog food but only tried it once and went back to the whole carcass food.
The saluki are brought up from pup with the ferrets so are well used to them and would nerver harm them.
