Currently, Tazy breeders in Kazakhstan are working on preservation of their national types of Tazy. The most numerous and well established type is so-called Kazakh type, then goes smallish and extremely agile Turkmen Tazy, then goes rare smooth coated Tazy well adapted to hot sandy desert landscapes and, finally northern Steppe Tazy best adapted to colder climate; these dogs have some undercoat abd more profusely develoepd furnishing.
