Kind of old but very interesting. Note the dogs don't stay in the house but roam around in the area on their own. I have read articles about Taigan where they do the same thing. I do not think this link has been posted before, but oh well, it's a good one.

It's always interesting to hear from native hunters, I'm sure have read another interview with Wahab Kamal not sure where it was.

In Sir Terence Clarks Videos a lot of the Salukis are free to roam, if they are contained its in large courtyards with other animals, goats, sheep, chickens, etc.

Interesting also that he has never heard of Afghans Hounds hunting with Hawks, as you are led to believe it was common practice as it is/was with arab Salukis and Saker and Kazahk Tazi and eagle.

Thanks for the link. :Good:

There was talk of a book but all the troubles out there have made it impossible. I left my Email with Gary and Judy Newton some time ago so they could contact me with any news on the book. We can only hope that mr Mr Kamal, his family and hounds are safe and well. :(

It is interesting to see things with the COO dogs that are totally contrary to what you are told in the West about the breeds. "Don't let your sighthound loose around small animals, they will chase and kill them." "Don't let your sighthound off leash, they will run away and not come back." The COO dogs seem to be raised and socialized in a totally different way so that they learn not to do things that we are told are 'instinct,' like chasing small livestock, running away, etc. It makes you wonder how much is really 'instinct' and how much is simply the way the dogs are raised.
