I wasnt sure if this story went in the behavior section or the humor section.
So i come home last night after taking my pal out for her bday. Its 1230 at night and we have to get up for work early AM so were tired and set for bed. well we come upstairs turn on the bedroom lights and find........
Flop and Dop sitting like deer caught in headlights in the middle of the bedroom floor! This would be totally acceptable if i left them this way before we left. BUT.... they were in their condo.. They broke out of the condo and decided to venture down the hall and into the bedroom where they have never been before.stupid me left the babygate to their room open. Dopy had red pee all over his back foot and was hopping around on our white carpet in the bedroom! :o
Thank god for RESOLVE carpet stain remover. The husband had a heart attack when he saw this and the buns knew they were in for it so they hide under the bed. i had to coax them out with lettuce and there was mad stomping all over the place. They finally came out and i got them back into their condo...UG what a nightmare. I laughed about it after (only cause the red pee came out with ease and the carpet is now white again.) but the husband will never be the same :P
needless to say i need a new way of securing the condo door. anyone have any suggestions? right now im using binder clips (i have the NIC cube condo) the brats obviously figured out how to unsnap them. And people think buns are dumb.. yeah ok....

I use either double end snaps from the hardware store or other strong clips used on horse leads and chains. however...it only WORKS if you use them. I left Annie out Tuesday night when I went to bed...at 4am I head these horrific noises and thundering rabbit feet. I got up to see what the heck she's running like mad for and what do I find? Chewy had busted out of her cage because it WASN"T locked. Annie I guess was running for her life and chewy was chasing her like mad. My kitchen chairs were turned over onto the floor, papers were scattered, my vertical blinds were all twisted and knocked around. I trapped chewy and grabbed her to put her up. It took some coaxing to get Annie in her cage and calmed down. Chewy's NEVER gotten out before. She was hiding between the window and their cage. I have to wonder if maybe Annie didn't go after her for a change :D It might explain why both rabbits were unharmed.
I can just imagine your 2 bad bunz that were SOOO busted when you got home. I can just hear the "oh crap!" from them as they ran and hid. One whispering to the other, "I know that lettuce looks good and you are hungry but Don't get near her hands! It's a set up, a trap!" It's a contest to see which is more mischevious....my dogs, my kids, or my rabbits. I bet it was a funny site (after the pee clean up, that is).....
bad boys bad boys whatcha gonna do? whatcha gonna do when mommy finally finds you?

hahahahaha. It must be something in the air these days since Chewy has gotten out as well. bad bad buns.... lucky no blood was drawn.
Yeah Flop and Dop are such pains in the butt lately. Dopy is the ring leader. Hes the bad boy.. Poor Flop is used as an accomplice to his bad behavior...Flop knows better.. he just follows along. He was the one who came for the lettuce first.... He knows the tummy rules!
So last night we had more of the same. They busted out AGAIN!!! but this time the babygate was on so they didnt leave the bunnyroom. thank god.i dont mind that. I came home to find them sitting at the babygate looking at me like " hey... let us out. we like the fun room from last night" bad bad bad.... but they knew.. cause as soon as i came into the room they ran back in their condo without any coaxing this time.
I have now put these really anoying clips from Home Depot on the cage that i had in the closet as a temporary double protection. Sure enough this morning 7 am i hear BANG BANG BANG!!! come to the bunnyroom and the binder clips are popped off and the other clips are holding on but give the door a small opening.. Dopy was banging the door back and forth while Flop sat there with a look on his face that said "stoppit you fool! mommies mad! were not gonna get our pellets. Cut the crap i need to eat damn you!"
what with this bad behavior? is it something in the air/water?

Rabbits are far from dumb . In fact they are intelligent and some times devious . If my Rabbit Peg wants to go somewhere she's not sure of , she fetches the buck Meg ( don't ask ) then she sends him in . If he gets cussed , she disappears sharpish and leaves him to it . If i don't say anything , she follows him in . He falls for it every time , i think he's in love .
John . <_<

I was rolling with laughter. Particularly imagining Flop saying "cut the crap, Mommy's mad and I want to eat!"
It so interesting. I had a foster New Zealand, Yuyu, that saw any gate, wall, house as an obstacle between her and the world she deserved to be in! She would try to figure out how to get around the Great Wall of China if it was in her way! I would let her go outside at school, and she would be in the next yard. The neighbor would say that was fine, and she would try to get out the Front of her yard...to the street! No matter how flexible I would be, she wanted to be even further away...maybe from me??!! Of course now, she has a family all to herself...and I recently learned...her own fridge. I don't think she tries to get away as much...maybe the fridge?
Speedy, on the other hand, remembers all too well the streets of San Francisco he came from. All the doors at school are open so kids can come in and out...and he doesn't bother to leave one area of the room! If he doesn't want to be bothered he goes under the play bed in the corner. Friday, he refused to come out so we could go home! Stomping away during the Afternoon Program's circle time...while kids giggled, and the staff looked at me disrupting their program with one eyebrow up.....  He is really becoming a persnickty old man!
