1. New Document (500x500) Fill it with Black.

2. Go “Filter > Render > Lens Flare” (default settings) and place it in the center of your canvas.

3. Press “Ctrl+J” to duplicate the layer.

4. Now select the bottom layer, and go “Filter > Sketch > Chrome” (Detail: 5 | Smoothness: 10)

5. Now select the top layer, and go “Filter > Sketch > Chrome” (Detail: 10 | Smoothness: 0)

6. Set the top layers blending mode to “Screen”

7. Now go, “Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue/Saturation” with these settings:

Should now look something like this:

8. Now Duplicate the layer right below your Adjustment Layer, by pressing “Ctrl+J”

9. Go, “Filter > Distort > Twirl” (Angle: 450)

10. Set it’s Blending mode to “Soft Light”

10. Now go, “Layer > Merge Visible”

11. Now press “Ctrl+J” to duplicate the layer.

12. Go “Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur” with a “4.0 Pixel Radius” and set the blending mode of that layer to “Screen”

13. Now its time to add a gloss to it. If you don’t know how to do the Gradient Gloss, Follow this tutorial.

14. Your finished orb should resemble something like this.

After messing around with it, I got this:
