Description: This may be of interest to some here

Camarasaurus - January 21, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
Just a heads up on the Plesiosaur symposium here at the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center.

Date: Feb 25th

Presenters so far (and I'll post their subjects when I get them tomorrow I hope...)

Glen Storrs
Ken Carpenter
Mike Everhart
Larry Martin
Others...
And of course, Mike Triebold.

Unveiling of the polycotylid (provisionally now Dolichorhynchops bonneri) and the Tylosaurus sp. from Texas, plus possibly the coelocanth (Megalocoelocanthus sp.). We'll also be opening up our "TMBB" site material to researchers.

Quick background, TMBB is a Judith River site consisting of mostly adult and juvenile plesiosaurs, a few mosasaurs, shark, enchodus, ammonite, sawfish and dinosaur material. I'm thinking it would be a fun exercise to get a bunch of experts into the lab and to sort by age and animal, possibly narrowing the plesiosaurs and mosasaurs down to generic level.

It sounds like a really cool activity. If we knew how many people wanted to give talks about 6 months ago, we probably would have put out a call for abstracts!
