Title: Official Con Dedication 2007
Description: In honor of the dead

Wyatt - September 5, 2006 01:53 AM (GMT)
I nominate Steve Irwin, for incredible mettle in the face of fifty-million-year-old cold-blooded amphibious carnivore.

rpb3000 - September 5, 2006 02:20 AM (GMT)
Seconded.

Kaisermikeb - September 5, 2006 05:43 AM (GMT)
Topical = Lame.

Like anyone will care in 9 months time.

I counter nominate Andy Kaufman.

Yuffie - September 5, 2006 07:46 PM (GMT)
I'm sure people will care in 9 months time. Won't be as upset, but still care. Though it was waiting to happen in a way...

I nominate Pluto.

rpb3000 - September 6, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)
Pluto's a good one too. Hmm.

Although I know at least I will still miss Steve in 9 months time. I had great respect for him. He loved what he did and opened the world to many people.

Alex - September 29, 2006 07:19 PM (GMT)
I second Pluto. Poor little guy, so cold and lonely out there... oh wait, he does have Charon...

Kaisermikeb - September 29, 2006 07:23 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but Charon sucks and we all know it! I'll drink to pluto!

Vincent - October 1, 2006 06:58 AM (GMT)
I third Pluto. In people Magazine they actually had a vote on whether Pluto or Tom Cruise had the worse week. Pluto won. Atleast I think it was Tom Cruise. I dunno. I was reading it at a doctor office. xD

SSJ Jup81 - October 1, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I'm all for Pluto. I mean, look at the great influence Pluto has had in the astrological world, and even the anime/manga one. Look at Sailor Moon! Takeuchi-sama must be devestated to find that the character she based on the planet, was all done in vain...

Yuffie - October 1, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
Frankly, I'd hate to be the person who tells Sailor Pluto she doesn't fit in the scouts anymore...

I'd be the one doing that Yuffie...and I'm with Pluto too.

Hellsing - October 2, 2006 01:50 AM (GMT)
If the dedication is to Steve Irwin, Mike should dress up as him and somebody should give him a crockadile to play with.
if the dedication is to Pluto mike should cross dress as Sailor Pluto.

Not to be a total geek or anything, but...
Sailor Moon? The moon's... not a planet either, it's a satellite. Asteroid senshi? There were plenty of senshi that didn't have a planet... So I don't think the Sailor Pluto thing is too shocking. Am I the only one that went to a public school where they always said that Pluto as a planet was questionable?

Yuffie - October 2, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
But Sailor Earth sounded so tacky!

Kaisermikeb - October 3, 2006 12:11 AM (GMT)
I thought Tuxedo Mask was the champion for earth?

He techniqually is, its a long story though and many opinions.

Yeah... for some reason Naoko Takeuchi's extremely complex story line made a lot more sense to me when I was younger...
Though I haven't really watched or read the stuff in about four years...

I'm going to have to say "yes". I learned it was always a planet. Schoolhouse Rock said that it was too! tongue.gif

That aside, Setsuna's character was supposed to have been based on the planet Pluto. Moon's guardians/protectors/court (whatever) were all based on the nine-planets of the Solar System.

Yep, Setsuna would be said to find out she doesn't fit in with the other eight soldiers anymore. sad.gif

Mishikotoko - October 4, 2006 01:38 PM (GMT)
And the sad thing is, now Pluto is no longer considered a planet, I believe.

Nope, just a big rock floating in space. Sad isn't it?

Well it's classified as a "dwarf planet" currently and the matter will probably come up again. This fight has been going on for years now. Of course, Pluto isn't dead, just demoted.

I second this motion wholeheartedly!

At the risk of moving further off-topic, I think the logic of Sailor Pluto vs. the asteroid senshi in relation to Pluto being demoted to dwarf planet, is that all the Solar System (i.e. Inner and Outer) senshi were "official" planets, if you will. The asteroid senshi (Ceres, Juno, Vesta, Pallas) were secondary to the plot, but Sailor Pluto got to be one of the big shots since it was a planet when Takeuchi wrote the story.

And that's my 2 cents on that. smile.gif

Kaisermikeb - October 5, 2006 04:07 AM (GMT)
Plus she was the hottest!

rpb3000 - October 5, 2006 01:42 PM (GMT)
Wrong! Jupiter was the hottest. Or possibly Saturn. Or maybe Mercury. But definitely not Pluto.

If you think about it, each senshi fills a certain fetishistic category.
Usagi - Twintails, Odango, Clumsy
Ami - Intelligent, Bluehair, Blush (Chris; Mike user posted image )
Rei - Tsundere, Miko
Makoto - Tall, Housewife
Minako - Idol
Haruka - Tomboy, Lesbian, Butch
Michiru - Classy, Lesbian
Hotaru - Gothloli
Setsuna - Older Woman, Greenhair
Chibi-usa - Pinkhair, Loli

It depends on what you're into.

Alex - October 5, 2006 05:48 PM (GMT)
...so wrong. But now that you point it out... *shudder*

Kaisermikeb - October 7, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
Dude, it's about time the odango fetish got some recognition! There isn't a single character in Sister Princess for that!!!
