No one knows or is saying anything other than BS. But you don't know that either.
It states that it's a copyright thing. There may be no Ohayocon if they have to use their money for court....
It's all but real or a really sad hack. None the less it looks like no hack and government busniess.
I'm guessing this might have to do with google accidently giving the government search words from everyone
OR
Some one claimed copyright on them
or
Someone claimed copyright on them and they found more
or
Some new con goer found their picture doing something wrong or without consent and
a] took action
or
b] asked to take it down, they refused, then took action (this is due to another letter someone got e-mailing the address on the bottom.
"The website has NOT been hacked. Due to forcible staff removal and breach of contract the owners, operators, licensers and holders of all copyrights, intellectual property, and digital files related of and related to the domain 'Ohayocon.com' and the holders and owners of said domain and hosting have removed said content and officially demanded the immediate destruction of all copies thereof pursuant to their rights as indicated by United States federal law title 15, 17 and all applicable federal and state laws. We apologize for any interruptions or inconvenience, and thank you for your cooperation."
But it looks like this messege is up NOW because of all the e-mails on "What happened"

What could they have up that would cause it to be shut down? Under the DMCA, I think most every con and fandom related website walks a VERY fine line of legality. Not knowing what's going on is bothersome. Should AP worry that we could be next? Is Ohayocon going to be happening this year? ..sigh..

Ran into this on the Ohayocon LJ (http://community.livejournal.com/ohayocon/17419.html):
Yes, the site is down at the moment, but it is being worked on. In the meantime, Ohayocon 7 is still on course. So if anyone starts spreading rumors, kindly correct them.

From the conchair:
First, it's something that shouldn't have been posted in the first place. Second, there was nothing used without permission. It's the act of someone who was formerly with the convention that had a little power and abused it. As for the email...I have a feeling I know who it is.
This is ALL I'm saying about what's going on. So PLEASE stop asking.
It also seems that they don't want too much bad publicity to stem from whatever internal shakeup is happening, so it'd probably be a good idea to do our best to cull the rumor mill.

It's best not to judge, Ohayocon has had more than it's fair share of sabatoge in the past.

Ohayocon, is forming a new site.
Ohayocon.org
There is a bit of information up, but everyone is currently working on the site.
Yes ohayocon.com is down but it was not due to a hack. (Most people thought the site was hacked again.)
Ohayocon did nothing which went against any laws, ect...
Rpb, your quote from the conchair is true.
Currently Ohayocon staff is trying to get the new site up and running. So please look torwards Ohayocon.org for updates.
