What about an event based on the anime "Those Who Hunt Elves", not entirelly sure what the event would be, any recomendations?

Umm, hunting elf cosplayers? The only problem is that not many people are cosplaying elf characters nowadays.

You could always change it to "Those Who Hunt Ninjas", though. There will probably be plenty of Naruto cosplayers to hunt.

have you seen those who hunt elves? the plot is that three people from modern day japan are transpoted to fairy tail land, and fragments of the spell to get them home is imprinted on the skin of elves. so in an obvios plot twist th only way they can find the spell fragments is to strip the elves naked to see if they have a spell fragment. its not a hentai......seriously

Faris Kalin - August 18, 2006 05:44 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I've seen it, and yeah, no one ever believes me either when I tell them it's not a hentai. :) It is actually one of my favorite shows. I just wish that ADV hadn't put the manga on permanent hiatus.

I just figured that if you are going to do a TWHE event then it's going to have to involve hunting something, and elves are in short supply at conventions nowadays. No one cosplays Lodoss Wars anymore, and that is about the biggest elf laden anime out there. Thus, I suggested the crossover of TWHN (Those Who Hunt Ninjas).

yeah, that is a good idea then, but what would we do. i didn't go last year, so i don't know exactly what went down in the hentai olympics, but it sounds like you have plenty of room to get pretty wild

Faris Kalin - August 18, 2006 06:30 AM (GMT)
Well, I don't think that we can go around stripping people even in the Hentai Olympics. However, we could have some sort of contest where you hunt Elves, Ninjas, or whatever theme with a digital camera. Then, the person with the most photos of different cosplayers would win. You could even get extra points if the photo of the cosplayer showed off a tattoo. Most people have a digital camera these days so this idea might actually work.

yeah, it should be more about the contents of the photos though, like you said if they have a tattoo, they look like they are upset by you doing this, or other things based on the theme of the show

Yeah, I agree. Although, you don't actually want to upset any cosplayers. That should definitely be a rule. However, I don't think that most cosplayers would have a problem striking an angry pose or showing off a tattoo. The participants should just be polite and ask first.

This is sounding more and more fun. Perhaps, I can put together a Junpei costume before convention time.

BluesDriveMonster - August 18, 2006 07:13 AM (GMT)
ooh yeah, politeness would be nescessary, but what how could we pump a lil more action into it? maybe the person that is having their picture taken could chalenge you to somthing, or make some bizaare request

wouldn't a cosplay scavanger hunt work much easier, lets say give have a panel that would discuss the rules (such as politness, cheating, and other such things) then distribute a list of coded or riddles asking for certain items then after several hours take all the contestants images then show them in the main hall during the judging for the cosplay contest.

idea: randomly add some sort of distinction to the badges and then have people go around hutning them. Obviously there would have to be a central list of what badges are "marked". Wouldn't be terribly difficult to do and would be in the style of those who hunt elves in a way.

though the cosplay scavenger hunt seems as if it would function well as well.
