Title: Anime shows
Description: you make an anime

Ok, so this is a unique thing, which I have yet to see at a convention.

What about having something, which only plays origional anime which convention attendee's have sent in?

I think that this would promote everyone using their artistic skills...then again it might be a bit to much.

If not a room, how about a time slot?(something?)

We all know people can make anime music videos, and draw manga, but how many of you could make your own anime?

I think it might be interesting to see what people decide...If they do a 100% origional anime, or if they use characters from various anime's and make their own story. (Or whatever else comes to mind)

Edit:

What about a live action...one? Anything making all of you people out there think...and use everything you know, to make something interesting.

Now that would be very interesting, but seems like it would be a bit difficult to pull off (the making your own anime part) because I doubt everyone who may want to participate could have the resources to do so. You do mean something that they literally animated themselves, right? Draw the characters, write the story, voice the characters, etc.

I think the live-action idea would work better for this, to be honest.

But I must say, this is a very unique idea and it should be really fun to watch.

What about a fandub contest?

Mishikotoko - May 19, 2006 01:19 PM (GMT)
@SSJ
Well I thought about that as well...(making own, as in own animation ect...)
I would say I put the create your own, or use anime characters from other anime's and add your own voices, and storys...

Although after I posted I relized Live action would be far easier to do.

@RPB
I like that idea, how about both???
But maybe more Live action shows, and Fan Dubs...then self animated shows.

Are you thinking of having fan films?

It's not completely unique. I know some other cons have had short animation contests, though I can't remember which ones. I looked into it some last year but didn't pursue it like I should have. Unlike AMVs and cosplay, one can't just post rules and expect people to enter. It requires some promotion among artists well in advance. Also, probably cash prizes. With all the financial uncertainty last year, we really couldn't do that.

Thanks for bringing this up. It's an awesome idea and totally in keeping with our con's ideology.

So, I hereby declare that Anime Punch '07 will have an original animation contest. I'll put up prize money if necessary. We will make this work, and it will rock your world.

We'd want to seperate the original animation contest from stuff that's copywrite-challenged. Allusions and some parody would be cool, within the bounds of fair use.

Of course, there's plenty of room for AMVs, fan parodies, etc. as well. Just a different track. Not against having space for certain sorts of live action stuff, if it's got some sort of anime-connection. However, the original animation contest should be animation of some sort - though stop-motion would be fine, as would any weird animation-live action hybrids.

Great idea. It will happen.

I am glad to see that this might work in one way or another. ^_^
