Title: Lets get started

Kaisermikeb - April 18, 2006 12:46 PM (GMT)
Ok, you've all had two weeks off! Now lets get ready to party again next year!

For those of you who are new at this, we basically take anything we are given and try to pull it off.

So the question is, what would you like to see us do?

Vincent - April 18, 2006 02:44 PM (GMT)
Free cookies upon entrance to all pre-registers!-Yes..I'm serious..I want a cookie >_>

I'd say go for Yuri only coz you guys think its cool, and it'd be lame of me to say no. lol.

<3ness to the yaoiness.

rpb3000 - April 18, 2006 11:38 PM (GMT)
Yaoi tends to be too flowery and overdrawn to my tastes. *shrug*

EnishiYukishirolover - April 19, 2006 12:06 AM (GMT)
Another Katamari!!!!

And people taped to random poles.

wolf - April 19, 2006 03:29 AM (GMT)
If we have it in the hotel again, a pajama cosplay contest would be cool, if possible. Probably done at night though.

Or if you want to go EXTREME with your events, you could have Fear Factor, anime style but I don't know if thats such a good idea. X_X

Zell_chan - April 19, 2006 11:48 AM (GMT)
Oh man, a pajama cosplay would be fun *.*

And I think you guys need a HUUUUUGEarse dry erase baord, so programming can be written up on it and ammended when nesscary.

I completely agree with this, and not just because I want a cookie............
okay, so maybe it is :P

this also makes excellent sense, but moreso

Since I'm still currently a "newb" to cons, as I've still only been to one, I don't have much to contribute to this conversation, but, if you guys do another Hentai Olympics, you could set it up so that the badges have the ages (or something to indicate who is over 18) so you won't have to kick people out and just check them on the way in. Same goes for the con-suite, since there was alcohol there, have something on the badges to indicate who's 21 and older to save you and the staff the trouble of actually having to check.

Let's see, what else...oh, I like the cookie idea, but instead of a cookie, how about pocky! lol I like that pajama one too. I'd actually participate in that, and actually get a new pair of pajamas too. lol

Oh, how about this, if they return, recognition to the cosplay and AMV winners of the previous year or something along the lines of that. It'd be cool to see them, just in case, some missed the closing ceremonies. *coughs*me*coughs*

Vincent - April 19, 2006 10:21 PM (GMT)
I don't like the ages on badges things, I just think maybe have people sign something and if the underaged are caught in the hentai olympics, drinking, etc. It'll be their own ass on the line, kicked out of the con, and maybe even as far as being banned from future cons.

SSJ Jup81 - April 19, 2006 10:23 PM (GMT)
Hmm, how about you guys have a cooking panel with a Japanese style chef, not particularly just sushi or something like that? Or better yet, a panel focusing on Japanese cusine and why it seems so dominant in most of these anime that we do see. Seems that no matter what you watch of theirs, food is involved in some way.

Or maybe compare the way the characters eat in anime with the way real Japanese people eat, sorta like the panel you guys had comparing dialogue.

Maybe that could apply to the Hentai Olympics part, but not with the alcohol. Mike and the others would be held responsible if a minor is caught drinking and if they were the ones to provide the alcohol.

Jeef and I brought one with us that we never used... Well, I think we used it Friday night because some n00bcake didn't show up for his panel in Main Events so we had to improvise something.

Miccy - April 19, 2006 10:42 PM (GMT)
I agree with the badges things.
I suggest stickes to be put on the badges, like colored stickers or something to just show it.
I know I'm only 16, and YES, I want to get into things that are 18+, but I still think its a good idea. >.<;;

I mentioned this somewhere, I'm not sure tho.....

True. But we could always have an ID check before you enter the roo for that. But not for the other stuff. Little kids who want to see b00bage will just have to learn to be ninjas, thats all o.o

SSJ Jup81 - April 21, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
Oh, just thought of something since we missed it (Street Fighter II). Another video game tournament, or is that something you guys do every year?

Kaisermikeb - April 21, 2006 07:03 AM (GMT)
we were going to do age marked badges, but not everyone who pre-reged filled out all the proper info and we got tired of emailing people for missing data.

Next time fill out the whole fucking application!

rpb3000 - April 21, 2006 11:38 AM (GMT)
Is there a way to not let the form be submitted unless the required boxes are filled? Or is this a problem with non-electronic forms? Either way, making sure to bold required fields and state somewhere on the page that the bolded fields are required would help.

Mishikotoko - April 21, 2006 01:15 PM (GMT)
RPB, the problem is with the people who print the forms, and mail them in.
Otherwise I like the idea.

Chris - April 22, 2006 02:36 AM (GMT)
Well, this year we had problems with the online form as well, as it was hastily designed. There was a lot of tedious manual futzing with the data that can be avoided next year now that we know what we're doing. (Also: Next year the online and offline registration forms will ask the same questions! What a concept!)

As for badges marked under/over 18, I'm not sure what I think. They might make carding easier - though does that mean that the registration people would need to verify everyone's ages? How do we know if someone gave us a false birthdate? With preregistration, I guess we're already checking IDs, but would we need to check every at-door registrant's id as well? If carding for events is to have meaning, we would.

Some people have worried that age-labelled badges might be like having the kids wear "abduct me!" signs. On the other hand, it might cut down on that all too common con faux pas - hitting on someone who turns out to be 15.

I don't have a strong opinion here. Just throwing stuff out.

Paliana - April 22, 2006 04:15 AM (GMT)
For checking under/over 18, why not have the badges color-coded or something? Like change the font color for people 18+? For figuring out the ages though, people can get around that to some point, but they HAVE to show proof of identity anyway at the registration table. If people can't show proof of their birthdate, then I don't think they should be allowed to go into any events 16+ (I don't know about 16 ... since most people are around that age group. Also, parents going to the con with their kids should be able to provide correct dates unless they're irresponsible as well). That way, if people don't even bother filling out the whole form or can't give you their birthdate, it will be their loss when they want to see an event and can't; plus saving you time not e-mailing them. ^^ With at least one person at the door to events that require proof of age, having the badges color-coded might make it easier to know who's allowed to go in and who's not (and of course let people know that certain events are 18+ in the program guide and outside the room).

I don't know so much about the at-door-registrations, but just have people check for identification. That's the best you can do for now.

I really don't know how you guys set up the badges, but maybe consider that suggestion? But I'm sure the badges are a lot of work already ( I was one of the random people Thursday night in the con-ops room alphabetizing the badges ... so many of them x___x )

Strife_Cloud - April 27, 2006 07:17 PM (GMT)
I want that CON SUITE back!!! Bring it back!!! That was the best idea ever!!!

Aww man, where? They must've broken it out after I left...and I was givin' everybody Pocky for free, too! Some nice people y'all are...

I'd have to say that I'm against the age thing on the badges only because I'm not 18 it's not like kids there haven't already been exposed to that it'll look tacky?

On another subject, what were the bonuses for those who Pre-Registered? I did and didn't get anything.

((EDIT)) Ahem, the proper term is EVAR. And you forgot the 1's and one's.

Vincent - April 29, 2006 03:49 AM (GMT)
Other then getting a special line to get into the cosplay I didn't notice any either. =\

Yeah. The Anime Punch was really good. I could have drunk the whole thing of it I liked it so much, but alas, i passed on doing so.

Lime - April 30, 2006 04:52 PM (GMT)
Maybe we can have a shounen-ai and/or shoujo-ai panel for people we aren't old enough for the yaoi and yuri panels? Like me. At least, I THINK you have to 18 for those panels. Do you?

EnishiYukishirolover - April 30, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
most of the time you have to be.

Vincent - May 1, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
I agree with Lime.

Kaisermikeb - May 1, 2006 05:10 AM (GMT)
we HAD an all ages shounen-ai manga panel! Why didn't you go to it!

And as Lime stated A big announcment would be nice :D ...DONT LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT!
