How about building a gigantic pinata and filling it with Japanese candy and other J-Goodies? A lottery could be held (Say $2 a ticket), and the winner could whack the giant pinata while everyone scrambles for goodies! The drawing winner would also get another prize, like a dvd set, because they probably won't be able to grab any candy. The value of all the prizes in the pinata would be equal to ticket sales (it would be filled after all tickets are sold). The main question is what to put in it. I was thinking Pocky, bag candy, other kinds of Japanese candy, maybe some cheap little gashapon toys. Maybe some Japanese drinks, too.

We have had a piniata idea for a while, I'm glad someone finally gave it its own thread and took steps to figuring out how to do it!

Things tend to break when in a Pinata. Cause you know a Pinata is beaten with a stick. So pocky and other breakables are a bad idea. Japanese hard candies and toys and such are a good idea though. I can get tons of little cheap asian goodies quick. Thank you CAM!

i agree pocky bad idea lol maybe a full box ? but thats still dangerous for the life force known as pock on the inside maybe we will find other fine anime treats to fill it with or maybe we'll just string up the most annoying person at the con?

Like I said above I could provide ample amounts of treats for the pinata for around 50 dollars or so. Maybe less.

I think the piniata sells itself without asian treats. I much rather spend the 2.50 on a bag of mixed candy than 50 bucks on little plastic asian things or equally good candy.

That being said, we need the piniata to be some ani-chara. I'm not convinced Eva is the way to go though, Shinji is way too much of an everyman, and Gendo... well he's just too much of a pimp!

Maybe a classic like Minmei? Or something dumb like Pika?
Or is there something out of left field that everyone would enjoy but no one would suspect?

I wasn't sure how big the pinata would be. I figured it'd be rather...well...exceptionally large since it's being used at a con. Hence why the steep amount. I could definately go lower I just wasn't sure the size. Another note is to have an Anime Pinata competition. or maybe just multiple pinatas. I dunno. Hell I could supply a small army with asian candy for like 20 bucks or so. The CAM is like...heaven.

I'm glad you all have taken to the idea so well. We need a poll or something to vote for the most hated chara for the Pinata. I think Menchi from excel saga is a good candidate. you can't beat up Shinji, he does like practically save the planet overall. My most favorite would be yugi mutou, I hate that pokemon-ripping off little brat. Or maybe a Shadow from Kingdom Hearts.

Shadows are like the cutest things ever! You wanna kill something from Kingdom Hearts, kill Kairi or Donald. No one likes them anyhow.

lol If its from Kingdom Hearts I don't care who gets smashed, but how about an "old school pinata" of maybe a Goomba or a Koopa Troopa? And while they're trying to break the pinata have the Mario theme play in the background. Now that would be funny. :D

My deepest apologies to Cloud. I was most certainly not targeting you. I happen to strongly dislike Donald myself. I din't even know they made plushies for that game, I must have some. And Craig, I don't even pretend to be superior, because my anime and game knowledge is probably half of the least experienced person on this board besides me. So if you want to brag about knowing more than I do, that's fine. I'll be content to know that I at least take my interests seriously.
P.S. I haven't played FFVII or MGS yet, but I'm sure they're quite good.

Seriously though, Anime Punch is a con that takes pride in its ability to sass, but we can only do this if people can stay cool enough to handle it. I mean come on, our feature event is "Your favorite anime Sucks!!"

I want to see more sensless bashing guys. But the next person to get defensive looses vital parts of his (or her male partners, in the case of a female) boy-parts.

On that note, Naruto sucks but I love watching it, Kingdom hearts is a good game but way overrated, Robotech is a classic that everyone should see but is by no means a "great show", and I have no idea what MGS is but I'm sure it sucks.

i might be able to make a simple pinata....it requires lots of craft wire,newspaper,quick drying paper mashei(sp),and paint to paint on what you want.i think i should be a specail thing for forum people.we all should make a pinata togheter and only we get the prizes inside.
