Alright, I've started MOCA (Mideastern Otaku Cosplay Association) a while ago, but I finally sat down and worked on it some during my break at school. We have a website, livejournal and forum now. Along with basic rules. Anyone is welcomed to join, but the two rules that apply to joining:

1. You must live or attend a convention in the Mideastern part of the United States.
2. You must at least participate with a group cosplay or themed cosplay at least at one convention the group attends to that year.

Anyways, here are the links:

Livejournal - http://community.livejournal.com/m_o_c_a/
Forums - http://s9.invisionfree.com/MOCA
Website - http://www.freewebs.com/mideastern_otaku_c...ation/index.htm

Conventions planned for MOCA this year:

Haru Con
ACen
Colossal
Ikasu
Otakon
Tsubasa
Youma

Conventions are planned, but may be schedual to change. Please feel free to ask questions and contact me.

Still mideastern? I thought we all came to the conclusion that this is the midwest, and that the middle east is like... Iran.

Ah, ok Mishi's lj update makes a bit more sense now. Are your forums free for all cosplayers from your coverage area? What exactly is your coverage area?

Basically the only true requirements is if you cosplay once with the group as a theme or the one of the group cosplays for that year. But the way we base the "coverage" of is by what conventions we go to. I know it's hard to limit where people live since people come from all over for cons. Thus is why we agreed to do it this way.

But not all those cons are in the midwest (and none in the mid-east) They are just the cons you're already planning on! Shouldn't Sugoi, Ohayo, and Matsu' be on that list? They are in the area!

Mishikotoko - April 12, 2006 12:49 PM (GMT)
Yes, they should.

Kotoko - April 12, 2006 05:46 PM (GMT)
are those conventions also in columbus, or near there?

Mishikotoko - April 12, 2006 08:15 PM (GMT)
Matsuricon is, as for the others, they are not. Columbus has Ohayocon, Anime Punch, and Matsuricon. (columbus/worthington actually.)

Heck Otakon is in Maryland.

All the cons seem to be in the Midwest or on the East coast, right? So then Mideast makes a vague amount of sense. You should prolly make a more thorough list of those cons, however. *shrug*
