Hey, anyone want to play a Katamary Damacy Tourney? I really wanna go head to head against some humans for a change. If you haven't played the game before, it is like the easiest, funnest thing ever. If nobody wants one, then I will just bring the game to the next convention and school everybody. I am the master of the katamari :)

Hmm good question.... How about a single-elimination type thing, no teams, just individual competitors. I don't know if you've ever played the two-player mode, but it is just one-on-one. Oh I also got to mention, we would be playing the american version of the game, hope that is ok. We would have as many competitors as signed up for the tournament.

Oh, the game actually has a two player, ok, that makes it easier!! I thought it would just be like 30 guys trying to roll the biggest ball at the same time!

Or you could give participants each a roll of duct tape which then the have to walk around the con rolling as big a ball of stuff as possible!

Now take note that I have never even touched Katamari Damacy (I'm poor) but from what I gather the objext of the game si to roll a big ball. Sooooo. We give each paying participant (an entry fee simply to cover the cost of the duct tape) one roll of tape and tell them to go at it. Rules are they can only pick up relatively sanitary things, no people, nothing that belongs to the hotel. Other than that they can go at it. Scraps of paper? Sure, why not? Things that have been bought, pieces of cosplay, items loaned. We could determine the winner by size of the ball or weight.

That's a cool idea but I still wanna have a game tournament. I am master of the Katamari! Muahahaha! But I don't think that the sticky ball idea will work because there won't be enough stuff to pick up, and people will get mad when their stuff is swiped to be put into the katamari. The hotel people won't go for it either, I'm sure.

ah, but if we think of it from another perspective...

The katarmari people would be allowed to pick up mice... and the hotel would love that!

As for the Duct Tape idea, I'm not sure how it could be made to work, although maybe we could buy a bunch of rolls of tape and have it in the lobby all con for people to make the biggest duct tape ball that they could...

but that is an idea for next year when we have both money, and more lee-way with the hotel.

you could just at some time durring the day everyone that wants to do it. get in a panel room. you brief them on what they can/not use give them tape or w/e and while this is going on have the con staff drop a bunch of random foam pieces etc all over the place. Then when you have everyone go out of the room they will have stuff the staff layed and then they could still go after all of the stuff from con goers. :lol:

Yeah I didn't think about dropping foam everywhere, that's a good idea, hey maybe we can see who can make the biggest human katamari? Like, people link arms or get taped together into a giant ball.

I could also see the fire hazard of a bunch of people taped together. I think large chunks of foam hidden throughout the con. Have a number of how many pieces of foam there are and make sure everyone keeps count of how many foam peices they have.

I'm thinking we screw the picking stuff up aspect, and just build a giant duct tape ball outside! I dunno, maybe we could pick some stuff up with it, but if it gets too big we can't ditch it in a dumpster somewhere... and it's impossible to cut through duct tape!!
