Hey! Mikepower9 from the sugoicon.com board told me to x-post this here... so if you frequent that board and this post sounds familiar, that's why! :D
I was just wondering if Anime Punch! was going to put on a t-shirt or design contest to let local artists try to get their stuff in print. I'm pretty sure a lot of people would be interested and would insure quality merch that I'm sure Anime Puncjh! would want to sell... oh well just tell me if some admin makes a decision or knows who I should ask to get more info - thanks!
well unforchantly art and logos has been taken care of. Kat won AP 1's art contest so she's doing the art and I'm the graphic artist at the moment
Ok cool I just thought I'd ask :)
Actually I would love to have an art contest to bring in more interest!
Obviously it will be tough to beat out Kat's awesome skill, but we will be using her for our publications, website, program guides, and even maybe some short manga pieces, so there is lots of space for a teeshirt contest!
Kill Pan, what kind of rules/ guidelines do you think the contest should have?
Would you be able to advertise for it?
Oh cool! T-shirt contest away! :D Well.. let's see... I've been seeing a lot of con sites having logo contests, and some of the basic rules are 300 DPI no more than 8x10 logos for printing purpouses. Logos can be smaller of course - it's really up to what you want on the shirt. You could even say what colour the t-shirt would be (if you're not doing white) so the logo could perhaps match with the colour. Then you can do a theme (for example, if the theme is "party time!" or "sweet days" you could incorporate stremers or lollipops) Or if, perhaps, there is already a mascot, the contest can be for the mascot but drawn with certain things, or the mascot can be completey up to the artist! It really depends on what kind of feel you would like for the shirt or other merchandise. There are many wonderful things you can do with it!
As far as advertising goes, I don't know where I could advertise much other than on perhaps this and the sugoicon board, but really if you make a notice on the main site about one, everyone who is interested in coming will probably take notice and participate! I know many people who enjoy anime do so because they are intrigued by the style and like to draw in the same form. This would be a cool opportunity to see it in print and compete with other local artists! Does this sound more appealing now or does it seem like to much work?
