Title: Forum Meetup at Punch?
kalajessta - February 24, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
Just wondering if any forum members would like to have a meetup at Punch due to that alot of us can't travel to the forum meetups before hand?
Mishikotoko - February 24, 2006 03:31 PM (GMT)
Kalajessta, please PM me.
I had been thinking about this, but I was going to ask Mike about it tonight...lol
ookami-san - February 24, 2006 04:13 PM (GMT)

I set 3 up at Ohayocon, and 2 before the convention. So I was going to plan one out for AP. I was actually trying to come up with ideas for one, but I was unable to. Kala, and suggestions? Any one suggestions of what to do?
Kaisermikeb - February 24, 2006 06:19 PM (GMT)
Well, in my experience, forum meet ups tend to be kind of failures at cons.
Maybe organize the meet up AROUND something, like... food.
Problem is, cons are fun, you don't want to get tied down away from the action durring it all. Late at night half the loosers say "Oh, I won't be there at night".
Hmm... maybe night is a good idea though... After all, all the people that can't come to the local meet up must be from far away, and therefore must have a way to stay overnight. Half the locals will be there all night, one way or the other, anyhow. So... screw the locals who decided to commute! That will learn them to not get a room! Have it at 3am!!

I'm up for a meetup, just name the time.
Mishikotoko - February 24, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
Mike you are crazy.
A night one sounds good...and...mmmm food.
ookami-san - February 24, 2006 08:36 PM (GMT)
as long as its not saturaday night im fine. sadly leaveing saturday night
Mishikotoko - February 24, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
there is the one major problem...people arriving and leaving on sat.
kalajessta - February 24, 2006 09:23 PM (GMT)
Yeah. Maybe we should take a poll like we did in Ohayo's forum? But other then that, I just thought of the meetup. That's it. Lol.

but here is the thing Ohayocon's poll was up for about 2-3 months.
And stiil; a date was hard to set, thats why I held one each day. I think 1 would be good. Who knows...
Dildodo - February 24, 2006 10:33 PM (GMT)
I'm organizing a meet-up on my lap (that's food for you) around midnight on Friday. I expect everyone to be there!
Kaisermikeb - February 24, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
next person to make a poll looses a finger.
All you guys do is make polls and then largely ignore the results!
The best approach is to just pick a time. Nothing is good foe everyone, just choose a lax period in the schedule.
I'll talk to Mishi tonight, and we will just declare a time.
SSJ Jup81 - February 25, 2006 03:29 AM (GMT)
That sounds like fun...although, I'm pretty much a newb to this board...and haven't gotten to know you all much at all yet. Either way, sounds like a nice thing to do.

kalajessta - March 1, 2006 01:52 AM (GMT)
Didn't we agree on the Ohayo Con forum meetup @ AP to be at lunch time on Saturday?

Kala, I dont remember. We could have one at 12 noon, and the other at 1pm.
kalajessta - March 1, 2006 02:29 AM (GMT)
True. Who was even setting that up? I can't even remember. Lol.
Kaisermikeb - March 1, 2006 04:31 AM (GMT)
lol, yeah, two within an hour isn't a bad idea at all!
Choose 1.
To help you out:
Sat 12pm - Anime Round Table Discussion, Wolfs Rain panel with VA's, Go workshop
Sat 1pm - Anime Q&A: Everything you ever wanted to know but didn't know who to ask, Superflat panel, Japanese 101
Video schedule isn't made yet. But lets face it, fangirls don't actually watch anime.
Mishikotoko - March 1, 2006 01:24 PM (GMT)
Well.....Rail I think was, but then again whoever it was has not posted for a long time.
I would say lets move the Ohayocon, and Anime Punch forum meetups together. Have them both at one place (since many people are on both forums.) and have it at a time for breakfast/lunch/or dinner. That way everyone can meet each other, and eat a meal.
rpb3000 - March 1, 2006 03:41 PM (GMT)
I was doing what now? *doesn't remember*
Mealtimes are always good times for meetups ^_^

you were the one who came up with the meal time idea on Ohayocon's forums...lol
kalajessta - March 1, 2006 09:11 PM (GMT)
Actually, that's a good idea to have them both at the same time. I mean, how many of us are members of both forums?

You, Mike, Rail, (Kamon/animefreak)/I, and many more...lol
lol
rpb3000 - March 1, 2006 11:20 PM (GMT)
Yeah food. ^_^
Uhm, I think anymore, the majority of the people who are still active on the Ohayocon forums are also active over here. And all of those who are going to AP are over here I think. So it'd prolly be a good idea to combine 'em. Food.
kalajessta - March 2, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
Should we meet somewhere in the hotel and then maybe go somewhere that is within walking distance for food?
inuyasha_goth - March 2, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)
Hmmm....well if theres a lounge we can bring like a packed lunch or something you picked up to it because not alot of people could probally go out to eat anywhere so we should stay at the con and find out how to get lunches there.
I just had a brain storm while typing! We could hold it in the lounge or somewhere and someone could bring a coffee maker and in it we can boil water(would have to be electric) and we could bring like a bunch of instant food.Ex.ramen,random soup bowls,etc...(i dont know that many good kinds of instant food where you just add water and wait.)
whatcha' think guys and gals!?^w^

Mn, but the problem is finding a coffee maker, let alone I think we would all would prefer actual food. I know I get sick of ramen at cons rather quikcly. I believe someone said that there is a Japanese resturaunt on the same shopping strip as the hotel. I know money would be tight with some people, but I can split food with someone. I don't eat a whole lot at conventions, but I have to eat real food when I'm at them.
inuyasha_goth - March 2, 2006 01:35 AM (GMT)
My dad said that asian garden is on the same street as the hotel and ive been there.they have good food.its a buffet.
kalajessta - March 2, 2006 01:39 AM (GMT)
Buffets are fun and it's cheaper generally during the lunch time. But we also have to agree to either all be in costume, or no one be in costume for lunch.
inuyasha_goth - March 2, 2006 01:45 AM (GMT)
someone would have to check actual distance...i dont know if its close or not.my dad just said its on the same road.I told him,"wow....big help there*
asain garden also has a mongolian barbaque(sp) in it.Its included in the prize but tips are incouraged.
kalajessta - March 2, 2006 01:48 AM (GMT)
Do you know the exact name and possible address of the place? I can look up the distance through mapquest. But we have to see also if everyone else wants to do it too.
Kaisermikeb - March 2, 2006 05:02 AM (GMT)
I would say if you're going to an asian restaurant, don't do it in costume. It's insulting.
I don't know about Asian Garden, but there is a Panda Express near the con that would be cheaper than sushi
rpb3000 - March 2, 2006 01:17 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Cosplay is kewl to freak out McDonald's workers. It doesn't have the same affect for Asian places... I like the idea of a cheap lunch buffet! But really, we should do whatever's nearby.
kalajessta - March 2, 2006 02:43 PM (GMT)
That's also less then 10 minutes walking distance. I know from experience at Ohayo Con, it wasn't fun to walk around, looking for a place to eat when it's nearly at freezing point.

Well its shouldn't be as cold as it was at Ohayocon, but then again it is Ohio, so who knows..
