AMV's suck. I don't even want to hear people bitching and moaning about this fact. Nothing but an over-use of linkin park and evanessence, raging death metal, etc. I propose we gather these AMV's and show them and then mock them. Maybe even an open discussion on why and how horrible they were. Now agreed there are some really good AMV's. I mean really good. Well synched, funny, etc. But the bad outweighs the good. Everyone and their grandmother's secret lover can put some clips of anime together with some music..and has attempted it.

So there you go. AMV Hell.

I actually agree with Craig, we should do something to reduce the amount of AMVs that suck.


Maybe in addition we could have some kind of event that makes fun of all the cliche things to do in an AMV....

One of the NBP panels we havn't had a chance to do yet is something along the lines of "how to not suck at making AMV's". Maybe we could get some top AMV makers together, have a showing of some VERY suck AMV's beforehand, then segway into a panel about how to make good ones. It would take some tricky coordination and probably the sacrifice of a video room for an hour, but it could be cool.

I am not totally satisfied yet with this one though. Keep the ideas comming!

i've seen a few great ones by The Great Wang...but i havent seen any good new video's anywhere from anyone recently....

Or maybe have a small teaching session type panel. I don't know. Something to help people get better at making them rather than berating them and making them quit before they get good.

I prefer a sense of negativity, but not overt. I think the "What to do to make an AMV suck" panel would do just fine!
I like the idea of bringing in accomplished AMV makers though, and I'll invite a bunch to the con.

I'd say somewhere in the middle ground, not a bad song (which is huge) but way too many digital effects for my taste.
