Please include which badge you would prefer for your forum badge. The poll is for suggestions and to see what ones will be popular. If there arn't any genres up on the poll that you like, please list below what you want. Thanks.

Is all this really necessary? I mean, all the recent spam has driven out the regulars, so like, the only people who care are the people making them. It's just a forum badge, do we really need all this structure? I mean, AP is cool because we DON'T like structure!

kalajessta - February 3, 2006 01:06 AM (GMT)
What regulars? I've only really seen my self, Mishi and Enishi really responding to anything.
EnishiYukishirolover - February 3, 2006 01:23 AM (GMT)
lol, its bad enough I can get on this at school
kalajessta - February 3, 2006 01:37 AM (GMT)
Same here. Let alone it's my home page too. So I'm always on.
EnishiYukishirolover - February 3, 2006 01:49 AM (GMT)
lol, same here, and it used to be Myspace too
Kaisermikeb - February 3, 2006 03:50 AM (GMT)
Yeah... that's exactly my point. Go back through the forums, there used to be a lot of people who would post. We would average maybe 100 to 200 posts per week, but it was from a wider variety of people.
You guys have slowed down a bit though, so things might ballance out, so it will probably be ok. Earlier this week and last you guys were doing nearly 100 a day, if not more, and that's just stupid!
On a healthy forum, checking twice a day is probably good. Be careful not to use it as a chat room! Spaming hurts us all!
Even still though, I miss the old people. At the sugoi meet-up there were between 10 and 15 of us who showed up and it was cool. Oh well, our happy little world couldn't remain issolated forever.
Don't get me wrong, at any given time we would have A spammer, like Narultimate Hero, or Inu Yasha Goth, etc. I think this is just the first time we've got two or three high traffic users all at the same time! Oh well, the system will return to normal eventually, or at least that's what Le Chatelier would have us beleive! You guys are slowing down a lot, so things will probably go back to normal, and as they die down, regular users will be able to keep up again. Staying at high volume makes it difficult for people to use the forums at all.
Another useful trick is to not reply unless you need to. Sure I could easily say SOMETHING to every post (and at one point in time I probably did), but there isn't a lot of substance there. Don't worry, I'm not saying everything you say is worthless, but at the same time, a lot of it is just noise, or would be better said in a private chat like on AIM or something. Like, the 'ishi's both have over 200 posts in less than 20 days, and that is just crazy! Don't get me wrong, I'm really glad all of you are so excited about Anime Punch!, and it's great that you guys are being so proactive in organizing things amungst yourselfs, but at this rate it will just be you three left! It's cool that you guys can be on our site all day long, but for the sake of those who have class or work or who just can't be online all day, try to just check two or three times a day so that the others can actually be a part of this con too. Be polite to them!
Does that make sense, or am I just rambling? Anyhow, I don't want you to think I don't like any of you, or that I'm mad. I just want the forums to be a place for EVERYONE, not just those of use who live on them!
kalajessta - February 3, 2006 05:05 AM (GMT)
It would be nice if others would respond, but alot of people don't get active in forums because they are dead. I thought we were helping out by making it active. I know Colossal's and Sugoi's forums are nearly dead. Ohayo's is even dying slowly as well. That's why we post so much in here is because there are a few other active members. If the others don't want to be active, that's fine, if they do, then let them. They can post their own threads and such as well.

Ahh, if only it worked as well in reality as in theory! However, even water will kill a tree if given in excess. I have to say, I'm in agreeance with Mike on this one. A lively community is just that: a community, with vibrant personalities and trolls, Puritanical idealists and perverts. But what has happened is that too much water (posts) was poured on a tree (forum) with too few leaves (members), leaving it unable to bloom (become a community). My personal opinion is that I have no reason to post because I don't feel like combing through the mountain of posts that are all about agreeing or disagreeing without actually adding to the discussion.
Proman - February 3, 2006 06:28 AM (GMT)
Ditto, Trent.
Before I go on with my rant I would like to appologise for being grumpier than usual... but it's all for the common good.
Just because this forum has more relaxed rules compared to others doesn't mean that you shouldn't follow common sense. I've been posting here almost from the very beginning and I can say from my own experience that in the past couple of days I've been completely discouraged from adding my own comments because I felt that they would simply get lost, before they even have a chance to be read.
Remember that you're guests on this forum and like every guest you're running a risk of overstaying your welcome by annoying other posters.
If you continue posting at this rate, I feel that during the actual con you may find yourself not wanting to wear the badges you've spent so much time designing because you would notice other people willingly ignoring you.
Personally, I'll take 15 meaningful posts from 10 people over 50 one word comments from just three members any day of the week. I'm not saying that all of your posts were meaningless (far from it), but most of them were. I know all of you are capable of doing a lot better and have a lot of interesting things to contribute. Remember, we're not trying to censor you here. Just trying to help you separate the important things you have to say from the useless chatter :).
Mishikotoko - February 3, 2006 01:10 PM (GMT)
Kala, and Enrishi...
I thought this is what we had talked on AIM about yesterday?
well anyways
To every on the forums, I would like to appologize. I know I have been posting a lot, and I am sorry if I have annoyed anyone, or offended anyone.
Mike, and everyone, I see your points. Actually, I have started to just let things go a while before responding (as of lately)
I am sorry, I will try to advoid doing it again (although this post is and exception to doing it again)
Don't worry, the forums will pick back up again.
Dildodo - February 3, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
First of all, I know I said I would retire and blah, blah yadda but I'm a troll so deal with it. Plus after all the pms I received asking me to come back, I've realized that I had to un-retire at least brifly to make everyone despise me again. No self-respecting troll would want a posititve legacy.
Anyway, I'll get to the point:
mikeman, why don't you make a separate area where the talkative folk will be able to talk away as much as they want. I know you already have things like "Random", "More Random" etc... but the difference will be that these posters will be restricted (asked, forced, cursed) to have ALL the offtopic convos in that one area as opposed to posting everywhere. This would prevent them from annoying everyone without having to keep quiet. They would still be able to post eveywhere else as long as they think that it's relevant (in a way most of my posts are).
Basically, I propose a compromise. What thinks you, mikey?
Evangalen - February 3, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
Dont leave me out I do post alot at Ohayocon well used to after the con i died out. But I do post a lot but I am on like 5 different forums and i dont post on the all at once since i am busy with other ones but I went with Mecha since that is what my badge will look like since i Pre-Reg yesterday. :lolguy:
kamon keronji - February 4, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
You Know the only reason I post sooooo much is becuse I have nothing better to do. I mean I only work 12 hours a week, I don't have any anime clubs in my area to go to, And most of my friends say WTF is anime? So no help there. I mean if there was a way that we could have a monthly anime meeting in my hometown I wouldn't be posting all the time like this. I AM BORED OUT OF MY FUKING MIND!!!!
anywho Thank you for lettting me get that off my chest.
Kaisermikeb - February 4, 2006 11:12 PM (GMT)
Evangelan,
Kamon,
Neither of you are spammers! You both post very well!
Evangalen - February 5, 2006 12:17 AM (GMT)
Because I am on to many different forums and school limits my posting and I watch too much TV too and not sure what to talk about on forums a lot of the time. But after the con I will inactive on the forums because the con is over.

The Female Eiri Yuki - February 6, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
there was a time when i posted fairly regularly on a few forums. but i must agree that when i come on and see so many new additions to the boards i dont feel like sitting and siftting through all the chatter.
maybe some of the topics could be moved to the "random/less random" catagories and renamed to suit the major chatter change in topic? such as this one that now has nothing to do with the original topic posting. [on topic i must say that anytime i can vote to spread the love of yaoi i'll add my two cents in XD ]
i dont mind people using the forums to keep in touch with other members (and i admit i have been guilty of over posting rediculously before) but generally i visit to see what's going on with the con, suggestions/feedback etc. more and more i tend to just stop in and check up on the goings on without posting because i dont feel i have a relavent enough comment.
anyway, i heart yaoi! i'd love to see yaoi badges : )
Dildodo - March 3, 2006 09:54 PM (GMT)
Kamon, your posting average is just .5 posts per day. You have nothing to appologise for. Remember, it's not the post count but the content that matters.
Boobs.
RBGCloud - March 4, 2006 02:53 PM (GMT)
I remember when I used to check these forums three or four times a day... and I actually posted back then. Now I'm a lurker once or twice a day. Not sure why... Sorry Mike.
Kaisermikeb - March 5, 2006 05:13 AM (GMT)
Hey, it happens. Don't be afraid to talk when you have something to say though!
Kag-ST - March 6, 2006 02:50 AM (GMT)
When i printed off the pre-reg form there was one that said Mind #$@%, does anybody know what that one is supposed to be?
Kaisermikeb - March 6, 2006 03:24 AM (GMT)
a Mind fuck anime would be like Lain or Boogiepop Phantom or Eva or something

Those that screw with your head and leave you feeling disoriented, confused, and possibly violated.
Mishikotoko - March 6, 2006 04:42 PM (GMT)
Yeah, half of what you have Rpb3000
Ameria - March 6, 2006 05:09 PM (GMT)
I was sad to see that there was no "Pirates" option. This is a travesty that must be corrected for next year.
Kaisermikeb - March 6, 2006 06:14 PM (GMT)
heh, we actually have a pirates badge design, we're just lazy about putting it on the site.
Sorry!

Would any one of those animes be put randomly on the badge?
Kaisermikeb - March 7, 2006 01:31 AM (GMT)
nah, we'll have our own icon for it
itachi_lover - March 7, 2006 04:51 PM (GMT)
:P I got the Yaoi fan girl badge!
Mishikotoko - March 7, 2006 06:33 PM (GMT)
